Dr Crokes GAA
Dr Crokes is a Gaelic football and hurling club based in Killarney in County Kerry, Ireland. Notable players include Colm Cooper, Eoin Brosnan, Johnny Buckley and Tony Brosnan. Founded in 1886, the club's successes include the capture of the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship in 1992 and 2017. The club has won the Munster Club Championship on eight occasions - 1991, 1992, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2018. The club has won the Kerry Senior Football Championship on fourteen occasions, most recently in the 2024 Kerry Senior Football Championship. Dr Crokes is the only club in Killarney with a hurling team, which has won the Kerry Intermediate Hurling Championship in 1999 and 2001. Gaelic football (; short name '')'', commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA, or football, is an Irish team sport. A form of football, it is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or palming the ball into the other team's Goal (sport), goal (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goal and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the ball up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Dick Fitzgerald (Gaelic Footballer)
Dick Fitzgerald (1882–1930) was an Irish sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local club Dr Crokes GAA, Dr. Crokes in Killarney, and was a member of the Kerry GAA, Kerry senior inter-county team from 1903 until 1923. Seanie O'Shea
Seanie O'Shea is a footballer and hurler from Killarney, County Kerry. He played with the Kerry inter-county hurling team during the 1990s. He played in the famous 1993 Munster Championship win over Waterford. He won an All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship with Dr Crokes in 1992, and returned as a trainer in later years. He is a brother of former Kerry manager Pat O'Shea. After retiring from playing, he took up management of teams at all levels with Dr Crokes. Thomas Croke
Thomas William Croke D.D. (28 May 1824 – 22 July 1902) was the second Catholic Bishop of Auckland, New Zealand (1870–74) and later Archbishop of Cashel and Emly in Ireland. He was important in the Irish nationalist movement, especially as a Champion of the Irish National Land League in the 1880s. Kieran Cremin is an Irish Gaelic footballer with the Dr. Crokes club team and formerly with the Kerry GAA, Kerry county team. Club He had much success at club level with Dr. Crokes. He won a Kerry Senior Football Championship title in 2000 as a panel member. He was a back to back championship Runner-Up in 2005 and 2006, losing both to South Kerry GAA, Kerry. Johnny Buckley (31 July 1989) is a Gaelic footballer from Killarney, County Kerry. He has played with Kerry at every level and plays with the Dr Crokes club. He first played with the Kerry minor team in 2006, winning the Munster championship and later played in the All-Ireland final loss to Roscommon. He was underage again in 2007 but had little success. Eoin Brosnan
Eoin Brosnan, born c.1980, is an Irish Gaelic football player who plays at centre forward. He is a former member of the Kerry senior county team and plays his club football for Dr Crokes. As of late 2021, he was a practicing solicitor, working from a practice in Killarney. Playing career Inter-county Brosnan made his Kerry Senior debut against Louth in 2000. He won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship title with Kerry on three occasions - 2004, 2006 and 2007. The 2004 and 2006 finals were played against Mayo, while the 2007 final was against Cork. In the 2006 tie, Brosnan came on as a substitute in place of Tomás Ó Sé against Mayo and scored 1-01. O'Donoghue Cup
The East Kerry Senior Football Championship an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the East Kerry GAA, East Kerry Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1925 for the top Gaelic football teams in the North Kerry in Ireland. The championship currently uses a single-elimination tournament whereby each team is guaranteed one game. The title has been won at least once by 11 different teams. The all-time record-holders are Dr Crokes GAA, Dr Crokes who have won a total of 32 titles. Dr Crokes the title-holders (2023). Most adult clubs in the division compete for this cup, even if they are playing at junior or intermediate grades. Laune Rangers is a Gaelic football and Hurling club based in town of Killorglin, County Kerry, Ireland. The club is affiliated to Kerry GAA. Rangers won the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship in 1996. History The club was formed in 1888 by two teachers. The newly formed club won the Kerry County Championship of 1889 and 1890.
