Oscar Zeta Acosta
Oscar "Zeta" Acosta Fierro (; April 8, 1935 – disappeared May 1974) was a Mexican Americans, Mexican American Lawyer, attorney, author and activist in the Chicano Movement. He wrote the semi-autobiographical novels ''Autobiography of a Brown Buffalo'' (1972) and ''The Revolt of the Cockroach People'' (1973), and was friends with American author Hunter S. Thompson. Thompson characterized him as a heavyweight Samoan people, Samoan attorney, Dr. Gonzo, in his 1971 novel ''Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas''. Acosta disappeared in 1974 during a trip in Mexico and is presumed dead. Life and career Oscar Acosta was born in El Paso, Texas, to Manuel and Juanita (''née'' Fierro) Acosta, from Mexico and El Paso, respectively. He was the third child born, but second to survive childhood. Acosta had an older brother, Roberto, born in 1934. John Means (comedian)
John Means is a former community college English instructor from Mason City, Illinois, who had gained fame in the 1980s as a stand-up comedian. Based out of San Francisco, he performed under the stage name "Dr. Gonzo." His act was a combination of standard observational humor and humorous songs, self-accompanied on electric guitar. Early life Means was born in October 1955 in Mason City, Illinois. His father was Dr. Jack Means. Means graduated from Mason City High School. He attended Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois and transferred to Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 1977. Career In 1978, Means moved to San Francisco. He worked at an import company, a restaurant, and busked with his guitar at Fisherman’s Wharf. He began as an opening act for comics at The Boarding House. Derwyddon Dr Gonzo were a Welsh-language funk and ska band from Llanrug, North Wales. Having reached number one in Siart C2 (radio), C2 (Welsh Language Music Chart), their music has received airplay on BBC Radio Cymru, BBC Radio 1 and Serbian radio. The band performed regularly on the Welsh language scene circuit, in addition to larger festivals such as Latitude Festival, Wakestock, Sŵn, Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau and ''Maes B'' at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, National Eisteddfod. Their second EP, ''Chaviach/Bwthyn'' was released on the Copa Label in 2008. On 27 July 2009 the band released their second album, ''Stonk!'', on the Copa label, and recorded at the Wings for Jesus Studio in Cardiff by Sir Doufus Styles. ''Dr Gonzo'' is the second studio album by Crookers, which was released on through Southern Fried Records. It features many collaborations, pre-eminently with Carli, Savage Skulls and Marcus Price. Track listing Notes The instrumental version of "Hummus" was the one featured on the Cream Club Anthems 2012 CD and did not feature the vocals from Hudson Mohawke and Carli.
