Aydın DoÄŸan (born 15 April 1936) is a Turkish business magnate and investor. He is the founder of DoÄŸan Holding, one of Turkey's largest conglomerates. Biography Born in 1936 as a member of a well-known family in Kelkit, DoÄŸan went to elementary and secondary school in Kelkit and finished high school in Erzincan. Between 1956 and 1960, he attended Istanbul Economy and Commerce Academy (later to become Marmara University). There, he became the Student Community Leader. Mazlum DoÄŸan
Mazlum DoÄŸan (1955 – 21 March 1982) was a journalist and a founding member of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). He was a Kurdish Alevi which was often told to attract new recruits to PKK. He was the first editor-in-chief of the PKK's propaganda newspaper '' Serxwebûn''. In 1979, he had planned to leave Turkey towards Syria but was arrested and served time in the infamous Diyarbakir No. 5 prison. Mazlum DoÄŸan committed suicide in protest of the Turkish coup d'état and the inhumane conditions he and other prisoners were facing inside of the penitentiary. Today he is presented as a hero and a martyr by the PKK and related organisations. Çetin DoÄŸan (born 15 May 1940, Maçka) is a Turkish military officer. He was Commander of the First Army of Turkey (17 August 2001 – 20 August 2003). DoÄŸan graduated from the Turkish Military Academy in 1960. In 2007, DoÄŸan was appointed head of the Board of Trustees of Ahmet Yesevi University by President Ahmet Necdet Sezer. Mehmet DoÄŸan CüceloÄŸlu (9 February 1938 – 16 February 2021) was a Turkish academic in media psychology and writer of several non-fiction books. Early years Mehmet DoÄŸan CüceloÄŸlu was born as the youngest of eleven children in the Mukaddime neighborhood of Silifke district in Mersin, southern Turkey on 9 February 1938. Five of his siblings were from his father's first marriage. CüceloÄŸlu recalled that "As I was schooled, I was surprised to learn from my teacher that I had two given names, and my surname was "CüceloÄŸlu", and not 'Cüceler' ('Dwarfs') as my friends called me." DoÄŸan Akhanlı (; 18 March 1957 – 31 October 2021) was a Turkish-born German writer, and author of novels, plays, and essays, mostly in Turkish. He had been living in exile in Germany since 1992, after his political views led to several arrests in Turkey. His work is focused on the major genocides of the 20th century, the systematic extermination of the Armenians and the Jews. Critics praised him for his storytelling and his engagement in human rights work. In 2019, he was awarded the Goethe Medal for his political engagement, in particular for more understanding between Armenians, Turks, and Kurds.
