Eduardo Ugarte
Eduardo Ugarte y Pagés (22 October 1900 – 30 December 1955) was a Spanish writer, film director and screenwriter. Biography Eduardo Ugarte was the son of the minister Francisco Javier Ugarte Pagés and his cousin Josefina Pagés y Bordiu. Ugarte studied law and philosophy and literature in Madrid and Salamanca. He became a prominent member of the Socialist Students Union. In 1919, after the Russian Revolution, he traveled to Russia in order to volunteer for the Red Army, but was detained by the German police and sent back to Spain. Following this, he became a founding member of the Spanish Communist Party, the predecessor to the Communist Party of Spain. Ugarte was close to the writers of the Generation of '27 and began his literary career by composing several plays in collaboration with José López Rubio. Andrés Soler
Andrés Díaz Pavia (18 November 1898 – 26 July 1969), better known by the stage name Andrés Soler, was a Mexican actor. He was considered one of the greatest figures of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Soler appeared in about two hundred films and received four Ariel Award for Best Supporting Actor nominations in his long career. Early life Andrés Soler was born in Saltillo, Coahuila as Andrés Díaz Pavía on 18 November 1898 to Domingo Díaz García and Irene Pavía Soler. He was the younger brother of Fernando Soler and the elder brother of Domingo Soler, Julián Soler, and Mercedes Soler. His family is known as the Soler Dynasty. Death On 26 July 1969, Andrés Soler unexpectedly died at his residence in Mexico City at the age of 70. His cause of death was cerebral embolism. Gustavo Rojo
Gustavo Rojo Pinto (5 September 1923 – 22 April 2017) was a Uruguayan-Mexican actor. Life and career Gustavo Rojo was born on 5 September 1923 on a German ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. His mother was the prominent Spanish author Mercedes Pinto, who emigrated to Uruguay for political reasons. His two older siblings, Pituka de Foronda and Ruben Rojo, also became actors. In the late 1920s, Mercedes wrote a play and Gustavo made his theater debut. Gustavo's screen debut came as a child actor in the 1938 Cuban film ''Ahora seremos felices'', in which his older sister Pituka had a starring role. In the 1940s, the family moved to Mexico, where Rojo worked steadily throughout the 1940s. In 1947, he made his Hollywood debut in the film ''Tarzan and the Mermaids'', which starred Johnny Weissmuller and Brenda Joyce. Rojo was engaged to Austrian actress Erika Remberg in 1958.
