Downtown MRT Line
The Downtown Line (DTL) is a medium-capacity Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line in Singapore. It runs from Bukit Panjang MRT/LRT station, Bukit Panjang station in the north-west of the country towards Expo MRT station, Expo station in the east via a loop around the Central Area, Singapore, city-centre. Coloured blue on the rail map, the line serves 35 stations, all of which are underground. The DTL is the fifth MRT line on the network to be opened and the third line to be entirely underground. It is the second MRT line to be operated by ComfortDelGro's SBS Transit after the North East MRT line, North East Line. It also serves as an alternative to the East–West MRT line, East–West Line where it runs roughly geographically parallel from Bugis MRT station, Bugis to Expo MRT station, Expo station. Downtown MRT Station
Downtown MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Downtown line (DTL). Located in Downtown Core, Singapore, underneath Central Boulevard, the station serves various commercial developments including the Marina Bay Financial Centre, Asia Square and SGX Centre. The station is operated by SBS Transit. First announced as Landmark MRT station in 2005 as part of the Circle line's Downtown extension, the station was constructed as part of DTL Stage 1. Automatic train operation (ATO) is a method of operating trains automatically where the driver is not required or is required for supervision at most. Alternatively, ATO can be defined as a subsystem within the automatic train control, which performs any or all of functions like programmed stopping, speed adjusting, door operation, and similar otherwise assigned to the train operator. The degree of automation is indicated by the Grade of Automation (GoA), up to GoA4 in which the train is automatically controlled without any staff on board. Fort Canning MRT Station
Fort Canning MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Downtown Line (DTL), located on the boundary of Museum and Singapore River planning areas, Singapore. Situated on the northern bank of the Singapore River, the station is at the foot of Fort Canning, which the station is named after. The station serves various developments including UE Square and Clarke Quay, as well as Fort Canning Park. First announced as River Valley MRT station in August 2010, constructing the connecting tunnels to the station was one of the most complex projects on the DTL. It involved the diversion of the Singapore River, while the tunnels to the adjacent Bencoolen station had to be constructed near existing operational tunnels. Rochor MRT station ( or ) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (Singapore), Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the Downtown MRT line, Downtown Line (DTL) in Rochor, Singapore. Located between Sungei Road and Rochor Canal Road, the station serves landmarks such as Sim Lim Square, the LASALLE College of the Arts, Lasalle College of the Arts and Tekka Centre. The station is operated by SBS Transit. The station was first announced in July 2008 when the DTL Stage 2 (DTL2) were revealed. The construction of the station, which began in 2009, was one of the most challenging projects on the DTL, involving multiple realignments of the arterial roads and the Rochor Canal while being constructed in soft marine clay. Bugis MRT Station
Bugis MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the East–West (EWL) and Downtown (DTL) lines, in Bugis, Singapore. The station is located underneath the junction of Rochor Road and Victoria Street. Various developments surrounding the station include Bugis Junction, Raffles Hospital and the National Library. The station is also close to Kampung Glam. Initially announced as Rochore, the station was renamed Victoria and subsequently Bugis. The station was part of the early plans for the original MRT network in 1982 and opened in November 1989 as part of the MRT's eastern line extension. In 2007, it was announced that Bugis station would interchange with the planned DTL. The DTL platforms opened on 22 December 2013 as part of DTL Stage 1.
