Dover High School (Delaware)
Dover High School is a high school located in Dover, Delaware. It is a part of the Capital School District. Communities served include the majority of Dover, as well as Cheswold, Hartly, Little Creek, and about half of Leipsic. Dover High School's principal is Shawndell Solomon. Special programs Dover High School offers a program for students to become certified nursing assistants. Since 2006, members of Dover High's Japanese Club have participated in a cultural exchange program with its sister school located in Kakuda, Japan. Referendum A 2010 Capital School District referendum on funding for a new Dover High School and renovation of other district schools passed on March 31. Construction of the new school began in the spring of 2011, and was completed in the fall of 2014. Ulysses Samuel "Ukee" Washington III (born August 20, 1958) is an American news co-anchor for the weekday evening newscast on KYW-TV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He currently anchors ''CBS News Philadelphia'' on CBS 3 at 5pm alongside Natasha Brown and solo anchors 6 & 11pm on KYW and 8pm on sister station WPSG-TV. Washington originally co-anchored the opening segment of ''CBS3 @ 4pm'' along with main anchors Natasha Brown and Alexandria Hoff until May 2020, when Brown & Hoff were inexplicably removed from their anchor positions on the broadcast. Donald Renie Martin (born August 30, 1955) is an American former Major League Pitcher, Baseball pitcher. Early career Born in Dover, Delaware, Martin played for Dover High School (Delaware), Dover High School and later attended the University of Richmond. Martin was drafted twice, by the San Francisco Giants in 1976 and by the Kansas City Royals in 1977 to play for the Gulf Coast Braves, Gulf Coast Royals farm team in Sarasota, Florida. He later played for the Daytona Beach Islanders, Jacksonville Suns, Fort Myers Royals, Omaha Royals, and in Phoenix Suns. Hameen Mursal Ali III (born April 14, 1977) is an American former college football player for the College of William & Mary who is best known for being the 2000 recipient of the Disney Sports Spirit Award. Gary Francis Traynor (born August 25, 1956) is an American lawyer who serves as a justice of the Delaware Supreme Court. Traynor was born in Dover, Delaware, in 1956, and graduated from Dover High School. He completed a bachelor's degree in history at Dartmouth College in 1978, and a J.D. degree at Widener University Delaware Law School in 1982. Traynor was in private practice in Dover from 1982 to 1990 at the law firm Brown, Shiels & Chasanov, and in Wilmington from 1990 to 2014 at the law firm Prickett, Jones & Elliot. James L. "Hutch" Hutchison Sr. (born June 20, 1942) is an American politician. Hutchison served as the first full-time Mayor of Dover, Delaware from 1994 to 2004. Hutchison is a member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party. However, Dover's mayoral office is officially Nonpartisanism, nonpartisan.
