Doug Peterson (yacht Designer)
Douglas Blair Peterson (July 25, 1945 – June 26, 2017) was an American yacht designer. Beginning with the One Tonner '' Ganbare'' in 1973, Peterson's designs have pioneered many innovations in racing and cruising yachts. In the mid-1970s, Peterson's designs dominated offshore racing events, with a string of winning high-profile IOR boats. Designed for Jack Kelly Yachts, the Peterson 44 debuted in 1976. This boat was a pioneer in performance cruising yacht design and one can still see many of the over 200 built in ports around the world. The design was followed by the Kelly Peterson 46 of which 30 were built. Hull number 30, the last one built, completed a circumnavigation of the globe in 2017. Also the Liberty 458 and the Delta 46 were based on this design. Doug Peterson (born April 4, 1959) is an American lawyer and politician who was the 33rd attorney general of Nebraska. A Republican, Peterson was elected attorney general during the 2014 election and assumed office in January 2015. Biography Peterson, who was born in Columbus, Nebraska, was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1981 and earned a Juris Doctor from the Pepperdine University School of Law in 1985. Peterson worked for the district attorney of Lincoln County for two years until serving an additional two years as an assistant Nebraska attorney general to Robert Spire from 1988 until 1990. He entered private practice, where he would remain until his 2014 election as Attorney General of Nebraska. Peterson was sworn in as the 32nd attorney general of Nebraska at the Nebraska State Capitol in Lincoln on January 8, 2015. Douglas Brian "Pete" Peterson (born June 26, 1935) is an American politician and diplomat. He served as a United States Air Force pilot during the Vietnam War and spent over six years as a prisoner of the North Vietnamese army after his plane was shot down. He returned to Hanoi when he became the first United States Ambassador to Vietnam in 1997. He was an ambassador until July 2001, after which he devoted himself to philanthropic work. Early life and education Peterson grew up in Milton, Iowa and attended college at the University of Tampa. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served in the Vietnam War, where his F-4 Phantom II fighter was shot down on September 10, 1966. He spent six years in prison, a period he described as "hours and hours of boredom, spliced with moments of stark terror." He was released on March 4, 1973.
