Douglas Gautier
Douglas Gautier is an Australian arts administrator. He lived in Hong Kong for around 25 years, where he worked in various roles in the arts and entertainment world, before being appointed CEO and artistic director of the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust in 2006. He has announced his retirement in mid-2025. Early life and education Douglas Alexander Gautier grew up in Adelaide, South Australia. He studied drama at Flinders University, graduating in 1975 with a BA (Hons). At that time Wal Cherry was the founding professor of the drama department at that time. Gautier's favourite teacher was history lecturer James Main, but there was also a Japanese lecturer in direction who inspired an interest in Asian art. Career Gautier first joined the State Theatre Company of South Australia, as a trainee director and actor. City of Music is a designation given by UNESCO to a number of cities around the world "that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development", to promote cooperation among them and to help establish further music-related activities in the cities. Peter Bryden Malinauskas (English: ; ; born 14 August 1980) is an Australian politician serving as the 47th and current premier of South Australia since 2022. He has been the leader of the South Australian branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) and a member of the House of Assembly (MHA) for the division of Croydon since 2018. DreamBIG Children's Festival, formerly Come Out Festival or Come Out Children's Festival, is a large biennial arts festival for schools and families held in South Australia. History The festival began as the Come Out Festival in 1974 as part of the Adelaide Festival of Arts, becoming a stand-alone biennial event in 1975. The first biennial event was held at the Adelaide Festival Centre, and it has been produced by the Centre since 2015. The festival's name was changed from "Come Out" to DreamBIG Children's Festival in 2017, when the organisers decided the term was no longer appropriate due to its meaning for the LGBTI community. The Adelaide Cabaret Festival is an annual arts festival featuring cabaret held in the South Australian capital of Adelaide. It has been held in June each year since 2001, with the exception of 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia, when an online event was presented on Facebook. The Adelaide Guitar Festival (AGF), formerly the Adelaide International Guitar Festival (AGIF) is Australia's largest guitar festival, held biennially in the South Australian capital of Adelaide. OzAsia Festival, or simply OzAsia, is a major arts festival in Adelaide, South Australia. It is an Asia-focused festival presented by the Adelaide Festival Centre for two weeks in late October to early November each year. Founded in 2007, the festival features theatre, dance, music,film, and visual arts from across Asia as well as outdoor events and food stalls. In some years it has focused on specific regions or countries in Asia. Since 2017, the festival has included the Lucky Dumpling Market, comprising numerous food stalls set up along the river bank.
