Doug Northway
Douglas Dale Northway (born April 28, 1955) is an American former swimmer, who competed for the University of Washington and then the University of Arizona, and represented the United States at two consecutive Olympic Games. He won a bronze in the 1500-meter freestyle in the 1972 Munich Olympics, and swam an Olympic and world record time in the preliminaries of the 4x200 freestyle relays at the 1976 Mexico City Olympics. His qualifying preliminary heat led the American Men's 4x200 freestyle relay team to a gold medal in the 1976 Olympic finals, though he did not swim with the final team. He was a world record holder in the 400-meter freestyle in April, 1976. Bruce MacFarlane Furniss (born May 27, 1957) is a former American amateur competition swimmer, Olympic double gold medalist, and ten-time world record-holder in four events. Michael Lee Bruner (born July 23, 1956) is an American former competition swimmer, 1976 Montreal two-time Olympic champion, and former world record-holder in two events. Born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 23, 1956, Bruner grew up in Stockton, California, and started swimming around age seven. At 12, he won two events at the San Joaquin Swimming and Diving Championships in July, 1968. By 14, he qualified for the American Athletic Union National Championships for the first time. Timothy Andrew Shaw (born November 8, 1957) is an American former Olympic medal-winning swimming (sport), swimmer and water polo player. He swam at the United States at the 1976 Summer Olympics, 1976 Summer Olympics and played on the American team at the United States at the 1984 Summer Olympics, 1984 Summer Olympics. He is one of a handful of athletes to win Olympic medals in two different sports.
