Doug Edwards
Douglas Edwards (born January 21, 1971) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the first round (15th pick overall) of the 1993 NBA draft. Edwards played for the Hawks and Vancouver Grizzlies in 3 NBA seasons, averaging 2.4 ppg. He played collegiately at Florida State University. Edwards gained his nickname "Doughboy" while playing in Vancouver. On September 10, 2008, Frank Martin announced the addition of Edwards to his coaching staff at Kansas State University. He has two brothers, both former basketball players: Steven (b. 1973) and Allen (b. 1975). Steven Edwards (born March 1, 1973) is an American former professional basketball player. High school career Edwards attended Miami Senior High School, where he had a very successful career and was named Florida Mr. Basketball twice: in his junior year, when he averaged 23.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists, and in his senior year, when his averages were 18.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists. Edwards won 2 state championships (1990 and 1991) and was a runner-up in the 1992 tournament with Miami Senior. McDonald's High School All-Americans
The McDonald's All-American Game is an American all-star basketball game played each year for boys' and girls' high school basketball graduates. Consisting of the top players, each team plays a single exhibition game after the conclusion of the high-school basketball season, in an East vs. West format. As part of the annual event, boys and girls compete in a slam dunk contest and a three-point shooting competition, and compete alongside All-American Game alumni in a timed team shootout. The last of these competitions replaced separate overall timed skills competitions for boys and girls. While it is rare for girls to compete in the slam dunk contest, occasionally a girl will elect to participate.
