MARC (Maryland Area Rail Commuter) is a commuter rail system in the Baltimore–Washington metropolitan area. MARC is administered by the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) and operated under contract by Alstom and Amtrak on track owned by CSX Transportation (CSXT) and Amtrak. Towne Centre at Laurel is a shopping center in Laurel, Maryland. It was built on the former site of Laurel Mall. History On August 14, 2012, the city of Laurel hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to begin destruction of the former Laurel Mall. As of October 12, 2012, all of the parking garage on the U.S. Route 1 side of the mall had been demolished, and interior demolition of the mall had begun. A Burlington Coat Factory (former Montgomery Ward) building was demolished in July 2013; it was the last remaining portion of the former mall. The Camden Line is a MARC Train, MARC commuter rail, commuter rail line that runs for between Union Station (Washington, D.C.), Union Station, Washington, D.C., and Camden Station, Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland, over the CSX Capital Subdivision, and Baltimore Terminal Subdivision. It is one of the oldest commuter lines in the United States still in operation. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad began running commuter service from Baltimore to Ellicott City, Maryland, Ellicott City over part of the current line's trackage on May 24, 1830, and the line was extended to Washington on August 25, 1835. Troy Park is a regional park comprising 101 acres in Elkridge, Maryland. The park is located at 6500 Mansion Lane off Washington Boulevard, near the intersection of Maryland Route 100 and I-95. Troy Park currently features several athletic fields, a playground, and trails.
