Dorothy Ruíz-Martínez is a Mexican-American aerospace engineer who works for National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Biography She was born in Texas, and was raised by her grandparents in Matehuala, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, until she moved to the United States at age 16. During her childhood, she witnessed the tragedy of the Space Shuttle Challenger on television; this event fueled her curiosity about rockets and aerospace engineering.
