Dorothy Liggett Pelanda
Dorothy Liggett Pelanda (born March 1, 1956) is an American lawyer and former Director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Personal Pelanda is married to Sam Gerhardstein, retired Governmental Affairs Director for Columbia Gas of Ohio. She has three children: Brian Pelanda, Doug Pelanda and Zoe Pelanda. Career After graduating from the University of Akron School of Law, Pelanda returned to Marysville, Ohio where she began a career in law. She has 30 years experience in the legal profession in private practice specializing in family law. After her appointment to the Ohio House, Pelanda opted to devote her full energies to her legislative duties, and she closed her law office in late 2011. Prior to her appointment to the Ohio House, Pelanda served two terms as president of both the Marysville Library Board and U-CO Industries in Union County. The Ohio Senate is the upper house of the Ohio General Assembly. The State Senate, which meets in the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, first convened in 1803. Senators are elected for four year terms, staggered every two years such that half of the seats are contested at each election. Karen Gillmor (born January 29, 1948) is a Republican politician who served in the Ohio Senate, and who now serves on the Ohio Industrial Commission. She is the widow of former U.S. Congressman Paul Gillmor. Life and career Gillmor graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with honors from Michigan State University, and a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.
