Dorothy Edwards (actress)
Dorothy Edwards (29 March 1917 – 13 August 1979, Devizes, Wiltshire, England) was a Welsh actress who worked in television, radio, and theatre from the late 1930s through the late 1970s. She is best remembered for portraying Mrs. Oakley in the first season of ''Crossroads (British TV series), Crossroads'' in 1964, and for the role of Nancy in the mini-series ''The Owl Service (TV series), The Owl Service'' between 1969 and 1970. She also had lengthy stints on BBC radio portraying Mrs Dixon in ''Waggoners' Walk'' and Mrs. Manning in ''Mrs Dale's Diary''. She had a close association with the Castle Theatre, Farnham at which she appeared in more than 200 parts. She was a founding member of the Redgrave Theatre, Farnham. Crossroads (British TV Series)
''Crossroads'' (later known as ''Crossroads Motel'' and ''Crossroads King's Oak'') is a British television soap opera that ran on ITV (TV network), ITV over two periods – the original 1964 to 1988 run, followed by a short revival from 2001 to 2003. Set in a fictional motel (hotel in the revival) in the Midlands, ''Crossroads'' became a byword for low production values, particularly in the 1970s and early 1980s. Despite this, the series regularly attracted huge audiences during this time, with viewership numbers reaching as high as 15 million viewers. It was created by Hazel Adair (screenwriter), Hazel Adair and Peter Ling, and produced by Associated TeleVision, ATV (until the end of 1981) and then by ATV's successor, Central Independent Television until 1988 when it was axed. ''The Odd Man'' was a police series produced by Granada Television, running over four series between 1960 and 1963. The character of pompous police Chief Inspector Charles Rose ( William Mervyn) at the start of series 3 cemented the show's popularity, and ''The Odd Man'' turned out to be the first in a trilogy lasting most of the 1960s, during which Rose's character slowly developed and became increasingly genial as they progressed. ''The Odd Man'' This series originally dealt with the investigations of theatrical-agent-cum-detective Steve Gardiner (played by Geoffrey Toone in the first season, replaced by Edwin Richfield thereafter). Connaught Theatre
The Connaught Theatre is a Streamline Moderne-style theatre and cinema in the centre of Worthing, in West Sussex, England. Built as the Picturedrome cinema in 1914, the venue was extended in 1935 and became the new home of the Connaught Theatre (established nearby in 1931). The theatre houses touring West End theatre productions, musicals, thrillers, dramas and children's productions. Since 1987, it has been a dual use cinema/theatre with two screens, and has a seating capacity of 512. Sir Alan Ayckbourn (born 12 April 1939) is a prolific British playwright and director.
