Dorma Leigh
Dorma Leigh (1890-1969) was a British dancer, actress and playwright. Leigh was born Dorothy Mabel Woodley. She danced with Jan Oyra in ''The Girl on the Film ''Filmzauber'', literally 'Film Magic', is a Posse mit Gesang (a kind of popular musical drama) in four scenes by Walter Kollo and Willy Bredschneider, with a German libretto by Rudolf Bernauer and Rudolph Schanzer. A parody of (then popular) s ...'' in 1913. In 1919 she married the writer Peter Cheyney. Cheyney petitioned for a divorce from Leigh in 1931 on the grounds of adultery but as he admitted adultery the judge granted a ''decree nisi'' in favour of Leigh. In 1917 she wrote a play ''Brownie.'' Dorma was a German company that produced door technology systems and allied products. It merged with Kaba Holding in September, 2015 and became part of Dormakaba Group. Overview Dorma was founded by Wilhelm Dörken and Rudolf Mankel as Dörken & Mankel KG in Ennepetal, Germany, in 1908. The family business was managed by owner Karl-Rudolf Mankel in third generation. As part of succession planning, previous sole Dorma proprietor Karl-Rudolf Mankel transferred the majority of his shareholding to his daughters Christine and Stephanie in March 2009. The Dorma Group had a workforce of approximately 6,500 employees and closed the fiscal year 2009/10 with a business volume of 856,4 Mill. EUR. ''Filmzauber'', literally 'Film Magic', is a Posse mit Gesang (a kind of popular musical drama) in four scenes by Walter Kollo and Willy Bredschneider, with a German libretto by Rudolf Bernauer and Rudolph Schanzer. A parody of (then popular) silent films, ''Filmzauber'' premiered in Berlin in 1912. An English version, ''The Girl on the Film'', translated and adapted by James T. Tanner with additional music by Albert Szirmai, premiered in London in 1913 and was later performed in New York and elsewhere. Performance history ''Filmzauber'' was first performed at the Berliner Theater, Berlin on 19 October 1912 with Lisa Weise, and the celebrated Austrian singer and later film actor, Oscar Sabo. Peter Cheyney
Reginald Evelyn Peter Southouse-Cheyney (22 February 1896 – 26 June 1951) was a British crime fiction writer who flourished between 1936 and 1951. Cheyney is perhaps best known for his short stories and novels about agent/detective Lemmy Caution, which, starting in 1953, were adapted into a series of French movies, all starring Eddie Constantine (however, the best known of these – the 1965 science fiction film '' Alphaville'' – was not directly based on a Cheyney novel). Another popular creation was the private detective Slim Callaghan who also appeared in a series of novels and subsequent film adaptations. Although out of print for many years, Cheyney's novels have never been difficult to find second-hand. Several of them have recently been made available as e-books.
