Doris Turner (politician)
Doris Turner is an American politician who has served as a member of the Illinois Senate from the 48th district since February 6, 2021. The 48th district, located in the Springfield metropolitan area and partially in the Metro East, includes all or parts of Christian, Macon, Macoupin, Madison, Montgomery, and Sangamon counties. Early life, education, and career Turner is a lifelong resident of Springfield, Illinois. She worked for the state of Illinois for 33 years. She worked for the Illinois Department of Public Health for 22 years. She was previously a member of the Springfield City Council and the Sangamon County Board. She was a member of the Springfield/Sangamon County Health Initiative Board of Directors. She is a founding member of the Southern Illinois University Federally Qualified Health Center. Andy Manar
Andrew "Andy" Manar (born November 15, 1975) is a former Democratic member of the Illinois Senate. He represented the 48th district, including part or all of Christian, Macon, Macoupin, Madison, Montgomery, and Sangamon counties. Andy Manar is known for being the chief advocate for SB 1947, which made dramatic reforms to Illinois’ education funding formula. Prior to his service in the Illinois Senate, he was chairman of the Macoupin County Board from 2003 to 2012. On January 4, 2021 Manar announced that he would be stepping down from the State Senate to assume a role in the administration of J. B. Pritzker. On June 17, 2021 it was announced that Manar would become Deputy Governor in the Pritzker Administration, taking over for Dan Hynes. The Illinois General Assembly is the legislature of the U.S. state of Illinois. It has two chambers, the Illinois House of Representatives and the Illinois Senate.
