Doris Allen was an American soul singer. She and Genie Pace were signed to the independent label Jade Records, started by former Bethlehem Records executive Jim Bright, in 1957. Genie Pace
Genie Pace was an American jazz and pop singer of the late 1950s and early 1960s. She and Doris Allen were signed by newly independent New York label Jade Records after its establishment. Her first album ''Love in a Midnight Mood'' album on Jade was followed later the same year by a second album ''Here's Genie'' on Bright Records. In 1960 she released the single ''Just Counting Stars'' In 1961, she was signed to Capitol Records, and at the height of the Pachanga dance craze in the US, released a version of Eduardo Davidson's archetypical Pachanga tune, La Pachanga. Bethlehem Records was an American jazz independent record label, founded by Gus Wildi in 1953. History Bethlehem is remembered for its jazz releases from the 1950s. Producers included Creed Taylor and Teddy Charles. Bethlehem released the first albums recorded by singers Chris Connor (the dual releases ''Chris Connor Sings Lullabys for Lovers'' and ''Chris Connor Sings Lullabys of Birdland'') in 1954, Nina Simone ('' Little Girl Blue'') in 1958, and singer/actress Julie London. Big John Hamilton was an American vocalist. He is known as a singer of Southern Soul music. Hamilton lived in Florida. He made eight solo records (45s) as well as duets with Doris Allen (singer), Doris Allen. They sang a version of Buddy Miles' "Them Changes" for Florida's Minaret Records label between 1967 and 1970. "Night Time Is the Right Time" or "The Right Time" is a rhythm and blues song recorded by American musician Nappy Brown in 1957. It draws on earlier blues songs and has inspired popular versions, including those by Ray Charles, Rufus and Carla, and James Brown, which reached the record charts. Earlier songs Blues pianist Roosevelt Sykes (listed as "the Honey Dripper") recorded "Night Time Is the Right Time" in 1937. Called "one of his 'hits' of the day", it is a moderate-tempo twelve-bar blues that features Sykes on vocal and piano. It has been suggested that it was "drawn from the old vaudeville tradition": In 1938, Big Bill Broonzy recorded the song, as "Night Time Is the Right Time No. 2," with slightly different (and more suggestive) lyrics.
