Pierre Henri Dorie (1839–1866) was a French missionary of the Paris Foreign Missions Society, who was martyred in Korea in 1866.''Les Missions Etrangères'', p.252-253 His feast day is 7 March, and he is also venerated along with the rest of the 103 Korean Martyrs on 20 September. Biography Henri Dorie was born on 23 September 1839 in Saint-Hilaire-de-Talmont. Following the arrest and execution of Bishop Siméon-François Berneux on 7 March 1866, all but three of the French missionaries in Korea were also captured and executed: among them were Bishop Antoine Daveluy, Father Just de Bretenières, Father Louis Beaulieu, Father Dorie, Father Pierre Aumaître, Father Martin-Luc Huin, all of them members of the Paris Foreign Missions Society. The persecutions triggered the French Campaign against Korea in October–November 1866, which reinforced the Korean policy of isolationism. Dorie Greenspan (born October 24, 1947) is an American author of cookbooks. ''The New York Times'' called her a "culinary guru" in 2004. Culinary career Greenspan has won the James Beard Foundation Award five times, as well as the International Association of Culinary Professionals Cookbook of the Year Awards for ''Desserts by Pierre Hermé'' and ''Around My French Table'', and ''Dorie's Cookies''. She has also been listed on the James Beard Foundation's Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America. Dorie S. Murrey (born September 7, 1943) is a retired American professional basketball player. He was a , forward and he played collegiately at the University of Detroit Mercy. He has played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1966 to 1972. He was originally selected with the second pick in the 2nd round of the 1966 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons, his hometown team. Murray was taken in two expansion drafts. Doris Miller
Doris "Dorie" Miller (October 12, 1919November 24, 1943) was a U.S. Navy sailor who was the first black recipient of the Navy Cross and a nominee for the Medal of Honor. As a mess attendant second class aboard the battleship , Miller helped carry wounded sailors to safety during the attack on Pearl Harbor. He then manned an anti-aircraft gun and, despite no prior training in gunnery, officially shot down one plane (according to Navy Department records), but Miller and other eyewitnesses claimed a range of four to six. Miller received the Navy Cross from Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Chester Nimitz on May 27, 1942, but many sailors and naval officers believed that Miller's heroism deserved a Medal of Honor.
