Doremus Bennerman
Doremus Tremayne Bennerman (born July 5, 1972) is an American former professional basketball player. College Bennerman played at Siena between 1990 and 1994. He is one of only two players in program history to score over 2,000 points (2,109). In the 1993–94 season, Doremus led the Saints to the semifinals of the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). In the third place game against Kansas State, Bennerman scored a school-record 51 points and made 27 of 30 free throw attempts. He scored 174 points in 5 NIT games and was selected as the tournament MVP. Bennerman's 174 points in the NIT remain a tournament record. Professional career Doremus Bennerman started his professional career in Östersund and Jämtland Basket in 1995. He remained in Jämtland Basket until 1998 when he left for clubs in Finland and Spain. MAAC Men's Basketball Player Of The Year
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Year is a basketball award given to the men's basketball player in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) voted as the most outstanding player. The award was first presented following the 1981–82 season, the first MAAC season, through voting by the league's head coaches. The award was first given to William Brown of Saint Peter's in 1982 after Brown averaged 17.0 ppg, while leading the Peacocks to the NIT. Lionel Simmons of La Salle won the award a league record three times in his career. Simmons, along with winning his third MAAC Player of the Year award, was also the consensus National Player of the Year in 1990. Basketligan
Svenska Basketligan, or the Swedish Basketball League (SBL), is the premier league for professional basketball in Sweden. The league was originally established in 1992 as Basketligan and was known as that prior to the season of 2006–07, but when the Swedish company Obol Investment signed an agreement with the Swedish Basketball Federation in early October 2006, the league was renamed Obol Basketball League (OBL). Östersund (; sma, Staare) is an urban area (city) in Jämtland in the middle of Sweden. It is the seat of Östersund Municipality and the capital of Jämtland County. Östersund is located at the shores of Sweden's fifth-largest lake, Storsjön, opposite the island Frösön. It is the only city in Jämtland. The 1994 National Invitation Tournament was the 1994 edition of the annual NCAA college basketball competition. Of note, in Kansas State's 115–77 victory over Fresno State in the quarterfinals, Askia Jones of Kansas State set the NCAA postseason record of 14 three-point field goals. His final total of 62 points, spurred by nine consecutive successful three-point shots bridging the first and second halves, was also the second-highest scoring output in major-college postseason history. National Invitational Tournament
The National Invitational Tournament (NIT) is a men's college basketball tournament operated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Played at regional sites and traditionally at Madison Square Garden (Final Four) in New York City each March and April, it was founded in 1938 and was originally the most prestigious post-season showcase for college basketball. The 2021 tournament, in which all games were played in Denton and Frisco, Texas, marked the first time that the NIT's semifinals and championship games were not hosted at Madison Square Garden; MSG won't play host to the games entirely starting in 2023. Over time, it became eclipsed by the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, which is now known informally as "March Madness."
