Dorchester Town Football Club is a semi-professional football club based in Dorchester, Dorset, England, currently playing in the . The club is an FA chartered standard club affiliated with the Dorset County Football Association. The home venue is the Avenue Stadium, on land owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. The club was a founder member of the Conference South in 2004, from which it was relegated in 2014. History Founded in 1880, Dorchester Town was a Dorset Senior Cup finalist in 1888 and 1890 before joining the Dorset League in 1896. Despite being founder members of the league, the club had little success before winning the championship in 1937/38 with a 2–0 victory at Sherborne on 25 April 1938. The Avenue Stadium is a association football, football stadium in Dorchester, Dorset, Dorchester, England and is home of Dorchester Town F.C. History Located to the south of Dorchester on Weymouth Avenue (where the club have been based since their inception), the ground was opened in 1990, having cost £3,000,000 to build.Dorset Echo Souvenir Supplement, 29 March 2005 The stadium was designed and is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. As such the Charles III, Duke of Cornwall paid two official visits to the ground, plus a number of unofficial ones prior to the inaugural match on 18 August 1990. Graham Roberts
Graham Paul Roberts (born 3 July 1959) is an English retired footballer and manager who played as a defender for numerous clubs including Tottenham Hotspur (where he won the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup), Rangers (where he won the Scottish League and Scottish League Cup), Chelsea (where he won the Second Division) and West Bromwich Albion. Brett Douglas Pitman (born 31 January 1988) is a Jèrriais footballer who plays as a forward for Dorchester Town. After starting his career on his native island, he moved to Bournemouth as a 16-year-old and went on to become a regular in their first team, helping them avoid relegation from The Football League in 2009 and earn promotion a year later. Club career Brighton & Hove Albion Fogden started his career at Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2004, breaking into the first-team in 2007 and making a total of 3 league appearances. Eddie Mitchell (died 17 February 2024) was an English sports executive. Football career Mitchell owned Dorchester Town FC. He was also involved in Poole Town F.C.. He was known as "Marmite Mitch". Mitchell was the owner and chairman of AFC Bournemouth between June 2009 and September 2013, and oversaw the beginning rise of the team which moved up from League Two to the Premier League. Darren John Garner (born 10 December 1971 in Plymouth) is an English professional footballer. He currently plays for Launceston F.C. Garner began his professional football career as a trainee with Plymouth Argyle, turning professional in March 1989.
