Dora Barton
Dora Barton (''née'' Brockbank; 20 January 1880 – 13 September 1966) was an English actress who appeared in films between 1916 and 1938. Biography She was the daughter of actress Mary Barton (actress), Mary Barton and the sister of actress Naomi Barton. She married actor Anthony Caton Woodville—the son of Richard Caton Woodville Jr. and grandson of Richard Caton Woodville—in 1908 but they later divorced. They had a son, Humphrey Caton Woodville, an entomologist. She died on 13 September 1966. ''The Sketch'' was a British illustrated weekly journal. It ran for 2,989 issues between 1 February 1893 and 17 June 1959. It was published by the Illustrated London News, Illustrated London News Company and was primarily a society magazine with regular features on Monarchy, royalty, aristocracy and High society (group), high society, as well as theatre, Cinema of the United Kingdom, cinema and the arts. ''The Cardinal'' is a 1936 British historical drama film directed by Sinclair Hill and starring Matheson Lang, Eric Portman and June Duprez. The film depicts a power battle in sixteenth-century Rome between the leading church-statesman Giuliano de' Medici and one of his rivals. Other themes in the film are the Italian Wars against France and the construction of the new St. Peter's Basilica to a design by Michelangelo. The film was based on the 1901 play ''The Cardinal'' by Louis N. Parker. It was made at Welwyn Studios as an independent production, but released by a leading distributor Associated British.
