Dora Afi Abotsi
Dora Afi Abotsi (born 22 February 1991) is a Ghanaian female Olympic weightlifting, weightlifter, competing in the 63 kg category and representing Ghana at international competitions. She competed at world championships, most recently at the 2009 World Weightlifting Championships, and at several Commonwealth Games. Weightlifting She won a bronze medal at the 2006 African Weightlifting Championships, competing in the class, with the medals won by the team qualifying it for the world championships. She had been the only female member of the squad named for Morocco. Abotsi took part in the 2009 World Weightlifting Championships in Goyang, South Korea, where she finished in 24th and last place in the women's class among those competitors who completed their lifts. Cameroon's Marie Fegue and Sukanya Kunrit of Thailand were the only two competitors who failed to complete by the snatch and the clean and jerk rounds of the competition. Olympic Weightlifting
Weightlifting (often known as Olympic weightlifting) is a competitive strength athletics, strength sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with the aim of successfully lifting the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead. The ''Snatch (weightlifting), snatch'' is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The ''clean and jerk'' is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders (the ''clean''), and then from the shoulders to over the head (the ''jerk''). The sport formerly included a third lift/event known as clean and press. Each weightlifter gets three attempts at both the snatch and the clean and jerk, with the snatch attempted first.
