Doonbeg GAA
Doonbeg GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club from the village of Doonbeg in County Clare, Ireland. The club only plays gaelic football, and have won the Clare Senior Football Championship on eighteen occasions. They are the 2010 champions, having defeated Liscannor in the final by 0-11 to 0-7. History The club was founded in 1954 and won its first senior championship in 1955. On two occasions Doonbeg succeeded in recording a 3 in a row double (championship and league) 1967-68-69, and 1972-73-74. The club's greatest achievement was the winning of the 1998 Munster Club Championship, the first Clare club to capture this title. Padraig Gallagher led the side to defeat Moyle Rovers of Tipperary by 0-07 to 0-04. Another notable day for the club was Clare's 1992 Munster championship victory over Kerry in the Gaelic Grounds. Doonbeg
Doonbeg () is a village in west County Clare, Ireland on the Atlantic coast. The surrounding natural environment has supported its development as a tourist resort. The area was officially classified as part of the West Clare Gaeltacht, an Irish-speaking community, until 1956. Location Doonbeg is situated on the N67 between the towns of Kilkee and Milltown Malbay. The nearest large towns are Kilrush and Kilkee, which are both approximately away. The village is located in civil parish of Killard. It is part of the parish of Doonbeg (Killard) in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Killaloe. The Clare Under-21 Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the under-21 Gaelic Football clubs in Clare. The current (2022) champions are Ennistymon who defeated their North Clare neighbours Corofin in the final on a score line of 1-10 to 0-06. The Clare Junior A Football Championship (abbreviated to Clare JAFC) is an annual Gaelic football club competition organised by the Clare County Board of the GAA for clubs below the Intermediate and Senior grades. It is contested by the top-ranking Junior clubs in County Clare, Ireland. It is the third-tier adult competition of the Clare football pyramid. Kilmurry-Ibrickane GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Clare, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The Clare Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association for the second tier football teams in the county of Clare in Ireland. The 2024 Intermediate Champions are Wolfe Tones who defeated Naomh Eoin by 2-11 to 2-07 to win their sixth title at this grade. Format The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final usually being played at Cusack Park. The championship includes a group stage which is followed by a knock-out phase for the top teams. Kieran O'Mahony is a former Gaelic footballer who played for Doonbeg and the Clare county team. He is known as "Nail". O'Mahony won a Munster Senior Football Championship medal in 1992. Gaelic Grounds
The Gaelic Grounds, known for sponsorship reasons as the TUS Gaelic Grounds, is the principal GAA stadium in the city of Limerick in Ireland. Home to the Limerick hurling and football teams, it has a capacity of 44,023. History 9 October 1926 saw first steps taken towards creating the Limerick Gaelic Grounds. A farm containing was purchased at Coolraine on the Ennis Road for development as a GAA sports ground. Two years later, the new grounds at ''Páirc na nGael'' were officially opened with two junior hurling games. The first big effort to raise funds for the development of the grounds was in 1932, with the establishment of a development committee, whose remit was to level the pitch, providing sideline seating and erect a boundary wall. The 1950s saw crowds of up to 50,000 attending games in the grounds. In 1958, a new stand was built at the grounds. The 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 106th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 17 May 1992 and ended on 20 September 1992. Down entered the championship as the defending champions; however, they were defeated by Derry in the Ulster semi-final. Clare shocked many people by defeating Kerry in the Munster final to win only their second provincial senior title (their first having come in 1917); they narrowly lost to Dublin in the All-Ireland semi-final.
