Doom (film)
''Doom'' is a 2005 science fiction action horror film directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak. Loosely based on the video game series of the same name by id Software, the film stars Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike, Razaaq Adoti, and Dwayne Johnson (credited as The Rock). In the film, marines are sent on a rescue mission to a facility on Mars, where they encounter demon-like creatures. An international co-production of the United States, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, and Germany, ''Doom'' was theatrically released in the United States on October 21, 2005 to negative reviews. Andrzej Bartkowiak
Andrzej Bartkowiak, (born 6 March 1950) is a Polish people, Polish cinematographer and film director based in the United States. He became known in the 1980s for his partnership with director Sidney Lumet, shooting 11 of his films between 1981 and 1993. He later became known as a director of action films, including the Jet Li vehicles ''Romeo Must Die'' (2000) and ''Cradle 2 the Grave'' (2003), and the video game adaptations ''Doom (film), Doom'' (2005) and ''Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li'' (2009). Life and career Bartkowiak was born and raised in Łódź, and studied at the Łódź Film School from 1970 to 1972.
