Donora (band)
Donora is an American indie pop/rock/shoegaze band based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They first gained visibility in 2006 as semifinalists in the contest, "Calling All Bands", sponsored by MySpace and Verizon Wireless, for their song "She's Just a Girl". The band had music included on the MTV series ''Engaged and Underage'', '' Cribs'', and ''Teen Wolf'', as well as the direct-to-video comedy ''Lower Learning'', starring Eva Longoria and Jason Biggs. The trio is composed of vocalist/guitarist Casey Hanner, her brother drummer Jake Hanner, and bassist Jake Churton. The band released their debut album, ''Donora'', in December 2008 on the Pittsburgh-based independent record label Rostrum Records, and received regular airplay on the adult album alternative radio station WYEP-FM. Donora, Pennsylvania
Donora is a borough in Washington County, Pennsylvania, United States, approximately south of Pittsburgh on the Monongahela River. Donora was incorporated in 1901. It got its name from a combination of William Donner and Nora Mellon, banker Andrew W. Mellon's wife. The borough's nickname is "The Home of Champions", mainly because of the large number of famous athletes who have called Donora their home, including Baseball Hall of Fame outfielders Stan Musial and Ken Griffey Jr. Agriculture, coal-mining, steel-making, wire-making, and other industries were conducted in Donora early in its history. Corbin/Hanner
Corbin/Hanner was an American country music group founded by Bob Corbin and David Hanner. They began as a five-piece band called the Corbin/Hanner Band in 1979. Corbin and Hanner served as lead vocalists and guitarists, with Al Snyder (keyboards), Kip Paxton (bass guitar), and Dave Freeland (drums) completing the lineup. The quintet released two albums for Alfa Records before disbanding in 1984. Corbin and Hanner reunited in 1990 as a duo, recording two more albums for Mercury Records, followed by four more albums on independent labels before disbanding in 2000. Although they never reached Top 40, the group charted eleven singles on the ''Billboard'' country charts: six as the Corbin/Hanner Band, and five more as Corbin/Hanner. WYEP-FM (91.3 MHz) is a listener-supported non-commercial radio station in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It carries an Adult Album Alternative (AAA) radio format and is run by the Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation, along with 90.5 WESA. The studios and offices are on Bedford Square. WYEP-FM holds periodic fundraisers to support the station. WYEP-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 18,000 watts. The transmitter is on Longview Street in Pittsburgh.
