Dongmen, Shenzhen
Dongmen (; lit. "East Gate") is a subdistrict within Luohu District of Shenzhen, in China. It is a shopping district located on Dongmen Pedestrian Street (). Name As one of the older parts of Shenzhen, the Dongmen area was established about 300 years ago as the centre of the Shenzhen Market (深圳墟), the town which would later lend its name to the city. This leads it to be alternatively known as "Laojie" (lit. "Old Street"). Location Lying just north of Shennan East Road, Dongmen is accessible from Exit A of Laojie Station, Shenzhen Metro. "Dongmen" usually refers to more than just "Dongmen Road", encompassing the entire series of connecting commercial streets. These streets were pedestrianised in 1999. Luohu District
Luohu District is a district of Shenzhen, China, located north of the New Territories of Hong Kong, east of Futian District, southeast of Longgang District, southwest of Pingshan District, and west of Yantian District. It is one of the oldest parts of the city, having represented Shenzhen as a fishing village before 1953 and a market town from 1953 to 1979, when Bao'an County was promoted to a prefecture-level city and renamed Shenzhen. Shennan East Road
Shennan Road () is a major east-west thoroughfare of Shenzhen, China. Location Spanning all over Luohu, Futian and Nanshan Districts, the road measures in length. It is divided into three sections, namely Shennan Boulevard (), Shennan Middle Road () and Shennan East Road (). The sections defined as the portions of Nantou Checkpoint to Huanggang Road, Huanggang Road to Hongling Road and Hongling to Yanhe Road respectively. The two-way road mostly consists of 4 lanes of traffic on each side (around 135m in width, the widest section for up to 350m). In some sections there are side roads and greening present. Laojie Station
Laojie station () is a station on the Shenzhen Metro. It provides cross-platform interchange between Line 1 and Line 3. The station is the busiest on the network with 61,600 passenger entries and exits a day. The Line 1 platforms opened on 28 December 2004 and the Line 3 platforms opened on 28 June 2011. It is located underneath the junction of Shennan Fudao (), Jiefang Road () and Jianshe Road () in the Luohu District of Shenzhen, China. The station is the closest to the Dongmen Business Area (), one of the oldest areas in Shenzhen established in the Ming dynasty. The Shenzhen Metro ( zh, s=深圳地铁, c=, labels=no) is the rapid transit system for the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong province, China. The newest lines and extensions which opened on December 27, 2024 put the network at of trackage. It currently operates on 17 lines with 398 stations. Despite having only opened on December 28, 2004, the Shenzhen Metro is the 5th longest metro system in the world.
