Donghai Island (; ) (Tunghai) is an island in the southeast part of the urban area of Zhanjiang, Guangdong, People's Republic of China. It has a coastline of , with a total area of , making it the largest island in Guangdong and the fifth-largest island in China. In 2008, it had a population of around 160,000. Leizhou Min
Leizhou or ''Luichew'' Min (, ) is a branch of Min Chinese spoken in Leizhou city, Xuwen County, Mazhang District, most parts of Suixi County and also spoken inside of the linguistically diverse Xiashan District. In the classification of Yuan Jiahua, it was included in the Southern Min group, though it has low intelligibility with other Southern Min varieties. In the classification of Li Rong, used by the ''Language Atlas of China'', it was treated as a separate Min subgroup. Hou Jingyi combined it with Hainanese in a Qiong–Lei group. Phonology Leizhou Min has 17 initials, 47 rimes and 8 tones. Initials The phoneme given here as is described by Li and Thompson instead as . Naozhou Island (; zh, s=硇洲岛, p=Náozhōu Dǎo) (Nao Chow) is an island in the South China Sea. Administratively, the island is organized as Naozhou Town (:zh:硇洲镇, 硇洲镇) within Mazhang District of Zhanjiang City of Guangdong Province of China. Geography Naozhou Island is a fairly small rocky island (10 km long by 6 km across). It is located near the southeastern corner of the larger Donghai Island, to which it is connected by a ferry line. Naozhou is described as China's largest island of volcanic origin. History Naozhou's early recorded history is fairly sparse.
