Lenin Square, Donetsk
Lenin Square (, ) is the main square in Donetsk, the capital of the Donetsk Oblast in Ukraine. It is located between the streets of Artem, Postyshev, Gurov, and Komsomolskiy Avenue. It was formed between 1927 and 1967. In 1967, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Bolshevik revolution, a monument to Lenin was erected on Lenin's Square. Donetsk ( , ; ; ), formerly known as Aleksandrovka, Yuzivka (or Hughesovka), Stalin, and Stalino, is an industrial city in eastern Ukraine located on the Kalmius River in Donetsk Oblast, which is currently occupied by Russia as the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic. Roman Krasnovsky
Roman Krasnovsky (; born 1955) is an Israeli composer, teacher, pianist, organist, and harpsichordist. Early career and education Krasnovsky was born in 1955 in Donetsk. His father was an orchestra player. At the age of five, Krasnovsky started to play the piano. He acquired a comprehensive music education in the schools and conservatories in the Soviet Union. He studied composition with the composer Aram Khachaturian at the Moscow Conservatory after graduating from high school. Despite Krasnovsky's wish to be a composer, Khachaturian advised him to focus on playing. Krasnovsky began performing as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra of Donetsk Philharmonic Society. After studying at a musical college, he continued his studies at the Academy of Arts in Kharkiv until 1979. As a student, he played the piano, the harpsichord, and the celesta with the Symphony Orchestra of the Philharmonic Society of Kharkiv. Goran Bregović
Goran Bregović ( sr-Cyrl, Горан Бреговић; born 22 March 1950) is a recording artist born in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is one of the most internationally known modern musicians and composers of the Slavic speaking countries in the Balkans, and one of the few former Yugoslav musicians who has performed at major international venues such as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall and L'Olympia. A Sarajevo native, Bregović started out with the bands Kodeksi and Jutro, but rose to prominence as the main creative mind and lead guitarist of Bijelo Dugme, widely considered one of the most popular and influential recording acts ever to exist in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. After Bijelo Dugme split up, he embarked on several critically and commercially successful solo projects, and started composing film scores.
