Doncaster Rugby League Football Club is a professional rugby league, rugby league football club, based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. They play home games at the Keepmoat Stadium and currently compete in the RFL Championship, Championship, the second tier of British rugby league system, British rugby league. Doncaster have never won any major honours. Their traditional home colours are blue and amber after Leeds Rhinos donated their home shirts to them when they were founded. They have a rivalry with Sheffield Eagles. History 1951–1994: Foundation From 1956–1961, Doncaster finished every season as the bottom side in the Rugby Football League, and remained consistently in the bottom three between 1963 and 1968. John Sheridan (rugby League)
John Sheridan (24 November 1933 – 13 November 2012) was an English professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s, and coached in the 1970s and 1980s. He played at club level for Lock Lane ARLFC, and Castleford (captain), as a , or ,Andrew Howard (1 July 2000). "Images of Sport - Castleford Rugby League - A Twentieth Century History". The History Press Ltd. and coached at club level for Castleford, Leeds and Doncaster. Honoured at Castleford Tigers Sheridan is a Tigers Hall of Fame Inductee. He joined Castleford from local side Lock Lane, choosing his home town club over Hunslet F.C. Stainforth () is a town and civil parish in the City of Doncaster, in South Yorkshire, England. It is around north-east of Doncaster, close to Hatfield and Thorne. Belle Vue (football)
Belle Vue was a football stadium in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England, that served as the home ground of Doncaster Rovers from 1922 to 2007. The ground was affectionately known as "Old Belle Vue" (OBV) by fans and at its peak had a total capacity of 40,000. History The ground was opened by Charles E. Sutcliffe from the Football League on Saturday 26 August 1922. The opposition was Gainsborough Trinity. The initial capacity was for 7,000 spectators, which was extended year-on-year as finances allowed. In 1927 the main stand at Doncaster's former ground in the suburb of Bennetthorpe was lifted and moved on rollers to Belle Vue to form the family stand, where it remained until 1985 when the Valley Parade fire in Bradford meant that the old wooden structure was condemned and was demolished. The Sheffield Eagles are a professional rugby league club based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. They play home games at the Olympic Legacy Park and compete in the Championship, the second tier of British rugby league. The Widnes Vikings are an English rugby league club in Widnes, Cheshire, which competes in the RFL Championship, Betfred Championship. The club plays home matches at DCBL Stadium. Founded as Widnes Football Club, they are one of the original twenty-two rugby clubs that formed the Rugby Football League, Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. Mount Pleasant, Batley
Mount Pleasant Stadium, officially known for sponsorship purposes as Fox's Biscuits Stadium, is a rugby league stadium in Batley, West Yorkshire, England. It is the home of the Batley Bulldogs and amateur club Batley ARLFC. The Mount Pleasant pitch is sloped and is on a hill overlooking Batley. The end of the ground at the top of the hill has three grandstands. Behind the rugby posts is a terraced stand, which houses the players changing rooms and executive boxes. At the opposite end at the bottom of the hill is an open terraced stand. The bottom corner of the pitch has a pronounced dip. The Batley Bulldogs are an English professional rugby league club in Batley, West Yorkshire, who play in the Championship. Batley were one of the original twenty-two rugby football clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. They were League Champions in 1924 and have won three Challenge Cups.
