Donald Richie Taylor (December 13, 1920 – December 29, 1998) was an American actor and film director. He co-starred in 1940s and 1950s classics, including the 1948 film noir '' The Naked City'', '' Battleground'', ''Father of the Bride'', '' Father's Little Dividend'' and '' Stalag 17''. He later turned to directing films such as '' Escape from the Planet of the Apes'' (1971), ''Tom Sawyer'' (1973), ''Echoes of a Summer'' (1976) and '' Damien: Omen II'' (1978). Foggy River Boys
The Foggy River Boys was the name of two related American male singing quartets from southern Missouri specializing in Southern gospel, spiritual, and country music in the 1940s and 1950s. 1940s group The original Foggy River Boys traced their lineage to the early 1940s, when Bill and Monty Matthews, joined by their brothers Jack and Matt, formed the Matthews Brothers in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. All were ordained ministers for Disciples of Christ. They had two daily live shows on KWTO-AM in Springfield, Missouri. In 1947, they appeared with Red Foley on ''The Prince Albert Show'', the nationally broadcast portion of the ''Grand Ole Opry'' in Nashville, Tennessee. Donald Victor Taylor (30 June 1936 – 11 November 2003) was an English writer, director and producer, active across theatre, radio and television for over forty years. He is most noted for his television work, particularly his early 1960s collaborations with the playwright David Mercer, much of whose early work Taylor directed for the BBC. The BBC Born in Marylebone in London, Taylor attended Chiswick Grammar School and subsequently studied English Literature at Pembroke College, Oxford. While at university he became actively involved in student theatre, particularly with the Experimental Theatre Club. Don Taylor is a Canadian radio sportscaster and former television sportscaster. He worked for TSN Radio 1040 in Vancouver until being laid off on February 9, 2021 as part of the end of that station’s sports radio format. On April 5th, 2021, he and fellow sports broadcaster Rick Dhaliwal started hosting ''Donnie and Dhali - The Team'' on Victoria station CHEK-DT. Early life Taylor grew up in Burnaby BC. He is the youngest of four brothers and two sisters. Taylor graduated from Alpha Secondary School in 1977. Sports broadcasting Taylor was the longtime co-host of CKVU's nightly sports news show ''Sports Page'' from 1985 to 2000 and was also briefly a radio broadcaster with CKNW. He hosted Sportsnet Pacific's nightly sports news program ''Sportsnet Connected'' from 2001 up until August 8, 2014, when it was announced that Taylor would no longer work for Sportsnet. Alexander Donald Taylor AM (born 24 January 1928) is a former Australian politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1968 to 1984, representing the seat of Cockburn. He served as a minister in the government of John Tonkin, including as deputy premier from 1973 to 1974. Taylor later served as Administrator of Christmas Island (an Australian external territory) from 1986 to 1990. Early life Taylor was born in Kalgoorlie to Lily Irene (née Jennings) and Alexander Taylor. He was raised in Perth, attending Perth Modern School, and was a state-level basketball player in his youth. Albert Dominic "Don" Taylor (24 June 1920 – 15 January 1994) was an Australian rules footballer who played for South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He also played with West Adelaide and Glenelg in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). The son of John Taylor Sr., who played 56 games for SANFL club Port Adelaide from 1915 to 1923,Atkinson, pp. 129–30. Taylor, along with his brothers John Jnr. and Laurie, began his career at West Adelaide and finished it at Glenelg. In between he had two separate stints with South Melbourne, the first while on war service in 1942 when he appeared in five VFL games, two of them finals, including their preliminary final loss to Essendon. He returned in 1947 and from mid season was used as a forward and on the ball, kicking at least two goals in each of his final six games. Donald Dougald Taylor (2 March 1923 – 5 December 1980) was a New Zealand cricketer who played in 3 Tests from 1947 to 1956. His nickname was "Bloke", because of his frequent use of the word. Cricket career A middle-order batsman, Taylor made his first-class debut in 1946–47, when he scored 205 runs at 51.25 to help Auckland win the Plunket Shield. In their last match of the season Auckland needed 236 to beat Canterbury and were 76 for 4 when Taylor came to the wicket. He scored 98 not out in an unbroken match-winning partnership of 161 with Bert Sutcliffe. Later that season he made 12 batting at number five in his first Test, against England. He was recalled nine years later in 1955–56 against the West Indies after making 254 runs at 36.28 that season in the Plunket Shield. Taylor (October 1, 1918 – December 2, 2015) was an American aviator, notable for being the first person in history in the late summer and early fall of 1976 to successfully fly a homebuilt aircraft around the world.
