Donal Keenan
Daniel Patrick Keenan (10 March 1919 – 19 September 1990) was an Irish Gaelic games administrator, Gaelic football coach, selector and former player. He was the president of the Gaelic Athletic Association from 1973 until 1976. Born in Elphin, County Roscommon, Keenan was introduced to Gaelic football in his youth. At club level he first lined out as a minor with Elphin. In a distinguished career spanning three decades, Keenan won two championship medals with Elphin, having earlier won a championship medal with University College Dublin. Keenan made his debut on the inter-county scene when he first linked up with the Roscommon junior team. An All-Ireland medallist in this grade, Keenan later made his senior football debut. He went on to play a key role for Roscommon during a hugely successful era, and won two All-Ireland medals and four Connacht medals. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. Sigerson Cup
The Sigerson Cup is the trophy for the premier Gaelic football championship among Higher Education institutions (Universities, Colleges and Institutes of Technology) in Ireland. It traditionally begins in mid January and ends in late February. The Sigerson Cup competition is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (CLG), the GAA's Higher Education Council. The Trench Cup is the second tier football competition, Corn na Mac Léinn the third tier and Corn Comhairle Ardoideachais the fourth tier. The Fitzgibbon Cup is the hurling equivalent of the Sigerson Cup. Connacht Inter-provincial Gaelic Footballers
Connacht ( ; ga, Connachta or ), is one of the provinces of Ireland, in the west of Ireland. Until the ninth century it consisted of several independent major Gaelic kingdoms (Uí Fiachrach, Uí Briúin, Uí Maine, Conmhaícne, and Delbhna). Between the reigns of Conchobar mac Taidg Mór (died 882) and his descendant, Aedh mac Ruaidri Ó Conchobair (reigned 1228–33), it became a kingdom under the rule of the Uí Briúin Aí dynasty, whose ruling sept adopted the surname Ua Conchobair. At its greatest extent, it incorporated the often independent Kingdom of Breifne, as well as vassalage from the lordships of western Mide and west Leinster. Con Murphy (Valley Rovers Hurler)
Cornelius "Con" Murphy (28 October 1922 – 29 April 2007) was an Irish hurler who played as a full-back at senior level for the Cork county team. Murphy joined the team during the 1942 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1951 championship. During that time, he won four All-Ireland medals, five Munster medals, and one National League medal. Murphy was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. At club level Murphy had a lengthy career with Valley Rovers while he also played with divisional side Carrigdhoun. Once retired from playing, Murphy became a referee at the highest levels. He also served as a Gaelic games administrator with the Cork County Board before assuming the office of President of the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1976. Connacht Junior Football Championship
The Connacht Junior Football Championship is a junior "knockout" competition in the game of Gaelic football played in the province of Connacht in Ireland. The series of games are organised by the Connacht Council. The competition began in 1906, with Mayo winning during the inaugural year. The most successful county to date is Mayo who have won on twenty nine occasions. The 2019 Connacht Junior Football champions are Galway.
