Don Carlos Smith
Don Carlos Smith (March 25, 1816 – August 7, 1841) was the youngest brother of Joseph Smith and a leader, missionary, and periodical editor in the early days of the Latter Day Saint movement. Life and career Early life Smith was born in Norwich, Vermont, on March 25, 1816, the seventh son of Joseph Smith Sr. and Lucy Mack Smith. As an adolescent, Smith was an early convert to the Church of Christ that was established by his brother Joseph in 1830. Don Carlos was baptized on June 9 of that year in Seneca Lake. He was also active as an early missionary of the Latter Day Saint church. At the age of fourteen, Smith was the youngest missionary for the church, serving with his father, Joseph Smith Sr., in the Eastern States mission from August through September 1830. Donald John Smith (June 3, 1887 – May 13, 1959) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Smith was one of the earliest professional ice hockey players, playing professionally in the first decade of the 1900s. Smith played in the National Hockey League and its predecessor National Hockey Association for the Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Shamrocks, Montreal Wanderers and Renfrew Creamery Kings. He was an older brother of ice hockey and lacrosse player Guy Smith. Playing career Smith played senior amateur hockey for his hometown Cornwall, Ontario club in the Federal Amateur Hockey League from 1904 until 1907. During a March 6, 1907 FAHL game between Cornwall H/C and the Ottawa Victorias Smith's forward teammate Owen McCourt was struck in the head by one or several opponent sticks and died the following morning of his injuries. Don Smith (August 2, 1909 – January 11, 1978) was a Canadian writer of detective and spy fiction. He is known for his ''Secret Mission'' series of novels, starring the businessman-turned-spy Phil Sherman. Early life He was born Donald Taylor Smith in Port Colborne, Ontario. From 1934 to 1939, he was a foreign correspondent for the ''Toronto Star'' in Beijing. Smith piloted a fighter in the Royal Air Force during World War II. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his participation in the Dieppe Raid in 1942. After the war, he lived in Morocco and Majorca, manning different businesses before becoming a full-time writer in his 50s. Novels Smith's first novel, ''Out of the Sea'', an action/romance paperback original, was published in 1952 by Gold Medal Books. Donald Arthur Smith (May 4, 1929 – September 7, 2002) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. Don Smith (29 December 1937 – 6 October 2004), was a British International motorcycle trials rider. He was born in East London. Smith was the first FIM Trials World Champion in 1964 when the championship was known by its original title of Challenge Henry Groutars. Smith again won the title in 1967, before winning a final time in 1969. He died in Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge on 6 October 2004 at the age of 66. Biography Don Smith was the winner of what is regarded as the Inaugural FIM Trial World Championship in 1964, at the time known as the Challenge Henry Groutars Championship. He won ahead of German rider Gustav Franke, taking wins at the French and German rounds. Zaid Abdul-Aziz (born Donald A. Smith; April 7, 1946) is an American former professional basketball player. He was known as Don Smith until he changed his name to Zaid Abdul-Aziz in 1976 after he converted to Islam. Abdul-Aziz starred for the Iowa State Cyclones in college basketball before he was selected by the Cincinnati Royals as the fifth overall pick in the 1968 NBA draft. Donald Michael Smith (born October 30, 1963) is an American former professional American football, football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). After a successful college football career for the Mississippi State Bulldogs football, Mississippi State Bulldogs as a quarterback, he was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the second round of the 1987 NFL draft with the 51st overall pick. After two seasons with the Buccaneers, Smith was signed by the Buffalo Bills, mainly to be their kick returner. He caught a career high 21 passes for 225 yards in 1990, while also returning 32 kickoffs for 643 yards. He scored a touchdown in Super Bowl XXV for the Bills in what turned out to be the final carry of his career. This was the Buffalo Bills' first touchdown in Super Bowl history.
