Don Mountjoy
Donald Alfred Mountjoy (19 October 1906 – 8 January 1988) was an Australian politician. Born in Middle Swan, Western Australia, he was educated at state schools before becoming a labourer and railwayman, as well as an official with the Australian Railways Union. In 1943, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Labor member for Swan, defeating sitting member Thomas Marwick. The Division of Swan is an Australian electoral division located in Western Australia. Swan is a marginal electorate that has swung between both major political parties in the past two decades. It extends across the Swan River from central Perth, and covers most of the area between the Swan and Canning Rivers. Swan includes the suburbs of South Perth, Como, Victoria Park, Rivervale, Belmont, High Wycombe, Maida Vale, Forrestfield and Wattle Grove. Swan includes a mix of incomes and housing types, from low-price flats to affluent suburbs with Swan River views. Thomas Marwick
Thomas William Marwick (29 April 1895 – 3 April 1960) was an Australian farmer and politician. He was a member of the Country Party and served both as a Senator for Western Australia (1936–1937) and as a member of the House of Representatives for the seat of Swan (1940–1943). Early life Marwick was born on 29 April 1895 in York, Western Australia. He was the son of Susan (née Collins) and Warren Marwick, a farmer who was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council in 1910. He was educated at a Catholic school in York and later studied engineering at the Perth Technical School. He left school in 1911, spending periods in Brookton and York before taking up farming in Greenhills. Marwick enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in July 1916 but received a medical discharge two months later. Len Hamilton
Leonard William Hamilton (7 July 1899 – 31 May 1987) was an Australian politician. Born in Jarrahdale, Western Australia, he was educated at Perth Boys School before becoming a wheat and sugar farmer. He served in the military from 1917 to 1920 and from 1940 to 1945. In 1946, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Country Party member for Swan, defeating Labor MP Don Mountjoy.
