Don Jordan
Don Jordan (June 22, 1934 – February 13, 1997) was an American boxer born in Los Angeles, California and was the Welterweight Champion of the World from 1958 to 1960. His nickname was ‘Geronimo’. He was of Mexican and African American descent. Career Born 22 June 1934 in Los Angeles, Jordan’s brief spell as an amateur shows that he began boxing as a Middleweight and – unusually – worked his way down to Welterweight as a professional. His amateur career spanned just fifteen contests, of which he lost only one. Jordan fought professionally for the first time in April, 1953. Standing 5 feet 9 inches and typically weighing around 147 lbs, Jordan was well-proportioned and quickly showed himself to be an effective performer, winning nine in a row before dropping a decision in March 1954, to a fighter he had out-pointed just two months previously. Jimmy Carter (boxer)
James Walter Carter (December 15, 1923 in Aiken, SC – September 21, 1994) was an American world lightweight boxing champion three times between 1951 and 1955. David Fraser Charnley (10 October 1935 – 3 March 2012) was an English lightweight boxer considered to be one of the greatest British fighters in his weight class. Luis Federico Thompson
Luis Federico Thompson (19 December 1927 – 8 January 2010) was an Argentine professional boxer. Born in Colon, Panama, he later moved to Argentina where he was nationalized and afterwards became the Argentine and South American boxing champion. Career Thompson debuted in 1947 with a fight against Wilfredo Brown in Panama City which ended in a draw. On October 7, 1951, he fought Wilfredo Brewster defeating him and winning the Panamanian Lightweight Title for the first time. Two months later, he fought Wilfredo Brown again. Brown won the match by TKO in the 8th round taking the title from Thompson. A month later on January 27, 1952, Thompson and Brown had their second rematch where Thompson won by decision, reclaiming the Panamanian Lightweight Title in the process. Bernardo Paret (March 14, 1937 – April 3, 1962), known as Benny Paret or Benny "Kid" Paret, was a Cuban welterweight boxer who won the World Welterweight Championship twice in the early 1960s. Paret's death occurred 10 days after injuries sustained in a March 24, 1962, title defense against Emile Griffith, televised live and seen by millions on ABC's ''Fight of the Week''. Carmen Basilio (born Carmine Basilio, April 2, 1927 – November 7, 2012) was an American professional boxer who was the world champion in both the welterweight and middleweight divisions, beating Sugar Ray Robinson for the latter title. An iron-chinned pressure fighter, Basilio was a combination puncher who had great stamina and eventually wore many of his opponents down with vicious attacks to the head and body. In 1957, ''The Ring'' magazine named Basilio Fighter of the Year, while the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) named him Fighter of the Year in 1955 and 1957. Tony DeMarco (January 14, 1932 – October 11, 2021), born Leonardo Liotta, was an American boxer and World Welterweight Champion. Born to Sicilian immigrants from Sciacca (AG), Vincent and Giacomina, DeMarco grew up in the North End neighborhood of Boston. A coma is a deep state of prolonged unconsciousness in which a person cannot be awakened, fails to respond normally to painful stimuli, light, or sound, lacks a normal wake-sleep cycle and does not initiate voluntary actions.
