Having sailed over 360,000 nautical miles, Dominique now ranks among the most experienced ocean sailors Biography Son of tennis player Alice Charbonnier he started on the courts before discovering sailing at the age of 13. He began sailing on Lake Geneva but continued his studies and became an art teacher. Then he sailed with Pierre Fehlmann in 1981 in the Whitbread onboard Disc d'Or III. Since then, he'll keep accumulating miles. The Beneteau Figaro, also called the Figaro I, the Figaro Solo and officially designated as the Figaro Beneteau, is a French sailboat that was designed by Groupe Finot and Jean Berret as a one design, single-handed, off-shore racer especially for the Solitaire du Figaro race and first built in 1990. The Single-handed Trans-Atlantic Race (STAR) is an east-to-west yacht race across the North Atlantic. When inaugurated in 1960, it was the first single-handed ocean yacht race; it is run from Plymouth in England to Newport, Rhode Island in the United States, and has generally been held on a four yearly basis. The race is organised by the Royal Western Yacht Club and was originally sponsored by the UK-based newspaper ''The Observer'', and known as the Observer Single-handed Trans-Atlantic Race; due to changes in sponsorship, it has been known as the CSTAR, Europe 1 STAR, and the Europe 1 New Man STAR. Mike Golding
Mike Golding (born 27 August 1960) is an English yachtsman, born in Great Yarmouth and educated at Reading Blue Coat School. He is one of the few yachtsmen to have raced round the world non stop in both directions. He held the solo record for sailing round the world westabout (the most challenging direction for circumnavigation) between 1994 and 2000. Golding, who was named president of the Little Ship Club in 2017 and is a member of Royal Southampton Yacht Club, is the eponymous co founder of the commercial company Mike Golding Yacht Racing Ltd. His partner in this venture was Jorgen Philip-Sorensen (d.2010). Golding led the team ''Group 4'' to second place in the British Steel Challenge in 1992–3.
