Dominique Thibault
Dominique Thibault (born August 26, 1988) is an ice hockey player for the Montreal Stars and a former reality tv contestant. Playing career NCAA Thibault spent the first three years of her NCAA career with the Connecticut Huskies women's ice hockey program. In 2009-10, she played her senior season with the Clarkson Golden Knights women's ice hockey program. As part of her only season with the Golden Knights, she helped Clarkson reach the ECAC Championship Tournament for the second time in the program’s history and made its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010. In addition, Thibault was the Golden Knights leading scorer. She was part of the ECAC All-Star team that played the US National women's ice hockey team in fall 2010. Hockey East
The Hockey East Association, also known as Hockey East, is a college ice hockey conference which operates entirely in New England. It participates in the NCAA's Division I as a hockey-only conference. Hockey East came into existence in 1984 for men's hockey when most of its current members split from what is today known as ECAC Hockey, after disagreements with the Ivy League members. The women's league, the WHEA, began play in 2002. On October 5, 2011, the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish (an ACC member outside football) announced they would be joining Hockey East as the conference's first non-New England school in 2013 after the CCHA folded. On March 22, 2016, Notre Dame subsequently announced their men's hockey team would leave Hockey East for the Big Ten Conference at the start of the 2017-2018 season. 2012 Clarkson Cup
The 2012 Clarkson Cup is a women's ice hockey tournament that was contested in Niagara Falls, Ontario to determine the champion of the Canadian Women's Hockey League from March 22, 2012 to March 25, 2012. The Montreal Stars defeated the Brampton Thunder by a 4-2 tally to claim their third title in four years. Over 5,000 spectators attended the games at the Gale Centre. Promotion Burlington Barracudas players Christina Kessler and Shannon Moulson were part of an event at Power Play Sports in Niagara Falls, Ontario on December 20, 2011, to promote the 2012 Clarkson Cup (to be held in Niagara Falls). 2011 Clarkson Cup
The 2011 Clarkson Cup was contested at the Barrie Molson Centre in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The four competing teams included three from the Canadian Women's Hockey League and one from the Western Women's Hockey League. All teams played each other in a round robin Thursday March 24 through Saturday March 26, with the top two teams meeting in the final Sunday March 27. In 2010 the tournament consisted of just two semi-finals and a final. A change to the format this year has made the tournament longer. Qualification The top four teams from the CWHL competed in a tournament based on seedings. Seeds were determined by standings at end of regular season play. On March 11 and 12, the number 1 seed played against the number 2 seed while the number 3 seed challenged the number 4 seed. The victors competed on March 13 to determine the CWHL champion. ECAC Women's Ice Hockey
ECAC Hockey is one of the six conferences that compete in NCAA Division I ice hockey. The conference used to be affiliated with the Eastern College Athletic Conference, a consortium of over 300 colleges in the eastern United States. This relationship ended in 2004; however, the ECAC abbreviation was retained in the name of the hockey conference. ECAC Hockey is the only ice hockey conference with identical memberships in both its women's and men's divisions. The Clarkson Golden Knights women's hockey team is an NCAA Division I ice hockey team that represents Clarkson University in rural Potsdam, New York. The Golden Knights have been a member of ECAC Hockey since 2004, and play home games in Cheel Arena on the Clarkson University campus. History Seasons 2003-04 to 2007-08 While men's ice hockey has existed for a long time at Clarkson University as an NCAA Division I sport, women's ice hockey had only existed at Clarkson as a varsity sport from 1974–1984, long before the women's game was at all formalized. The UConn Huskies women's ice hockey program represents the University of Connecticut. The Huskies compete in the Hockey East (HEA) conference of the NCAA Division I. History The UConn Huskies women's ice hockey team began in 2000, under head coach Heather Linstad. In its first season, the team played as an independent team. In the 2001–02 season, the team joined the ECAC Hockey women's conference. Since the 2002–03 season, they have participated in the Hockey East (HEA), also known as the Women's Hockey East Association (WHEA), conference. The team plays in the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum.
