Dominik Černý (born 1 November 1997) is a Slovak race walker. Biography Dominik Černý was born 1 November 1997 in Nové Mesto nad Váhom. His engagement to his fellow athlete Hana Burzalová whom he proposed at the finish line of the 35 kilometer race at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest attracted worldwide media attention. Černý qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics at the 2024 World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships in Antalya Antalya is the fifth-most populous city in Turkey and the capital of Antalya Province. Race Walker
Race walking, or racewalking, is a long-distance discipline within the sport of athletics. Although a foot race, it is different from running in that one foot must appear to be in contact with the ground at all times. Race judges carefully assess that this is maintained throughout the race. However, if there is an argument between referee, a replay video must be reviewed to judge accordingly. Typically held on either roads or running tracks, common distances range from up to 100 kilometres (62.1 mi). The current race walking contests at the Summer Olympics are the 20 kilometres race walk (men and women) and the marathon race walk mixed relay, the latter of which debuted at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Hana Burzalová (born 3 November 2000) is a Slovak race walker. She represented Slovakia at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, taking part in the women's 20 kilometres walk and mixed marathon walk relay. Biography Hana Burzalová was born on 3 November 2000 in Ilava. She started competing internationally in 2015. Her biggest career success has been the 23rd place in the 35 kilometres race walk event at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. During the event she set her personal best at the 35 kilometre distance, with a time of 2 hours, 39 minutes and 32 seconds. The following month, Burzalová recorded a season's best time in the 20 kilometre walk at the 2022 European Athletics Championships, finishing in 18th place with a time of 1 hour, 40 minutes and 31 seconds. 2023 World Athletics Championships
The 2023 World Athletics Championships (), the nineteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships, were held from 19 to 27 August 2023 at the National Athletics Centre (Budapest), National Athletics Centre, in Budapest, Hungary. The 2024 World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships were the 30th edition of the global team racewalking competition organised by World Athletics. Overview The 35 km senior men's and women's races were introduced in 2022, replacing the 50 km race walk.
