Dominican Summer Red Sox
The Dominican Summer League Red Sox, often called the DSL Red Sox, are a Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball, playing in the foreign Dominican Summer League. The team, classed as a Rookie League franchise, plays at the El Toro Complex in the Dominican Republic. For the 2021 Boston Red Sox season, the field coordinator is José Zapata, and the Red Sox are fielding two teams; one managed by Ozzie Chavez and the other managed by Sandy Madera. History The Red Sox have fielded at least one team in the DSL each season since 1996; the team that season was a cooperative with the Houston Astros. Since 1997, the Red Sox have fielded their own team. In some seasons, the Red Sox have fielded two teams in the league. The Dominican Summer League (DSL) is a branch of affiliated Minor League Baseball which is played in the Dominican Republic. The league was founded in 1985. After the demise of the Venezuelan Summer League after the 2015 season, it is the only Latin America-based rookie league. The Dominican Summer League Rangers or DSL Rangers are a Minor League Baseball team of the Dominican Summer League and Rookie affiliates of the Texas Rangers. Nelson Rafael Paulino (born January 23, 1973) is a former minor league infielder and current hitting coach in the Boston Red Sox minor league system. Listed at and , he was a switch hitter and threw right handed. Career Paulino started his professional career with the Atlanta Braves organization, playing for them at three different minor league levels from 1992 through 1994. Nelson Augusto Norman (born May 23, 1958) is a Dominican-American former professional baseball player, coach and manager.
