Dominic Lokinyomo Lobalu
Dominic Lokinyomo Lobalu (born 16 August 1998) is a South Sudanese middle-distance runner, middle and long-distance runner. He currently lives and trains in Switzerland and competes for On Running. Lobalu left South Sudan when he was 8 and took refuge in Kenya. He took up running at the age of 15, and trained as part of the Athlete Refugee Team. He competed for the team in the 2017 World Championships in Athletics – Men's 1500 metres, 1500 metres at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. In May 2019, he competed in the Geneva Marathon and decided to permanently settle in Switzerland. In 2022, he set South Sudanese national records in the 1500 metres, 3000 metres, 5000 metres and 10,000 metres. He won the 3000 m at the BAUHAUS-galan in Stockholm, Sweden setting a world leading time of 7:29.48. Chukudum
Chukudum is a Town in Budi County of the Eastern Equatoria state of South Sudan. Location The town lies at the base of the Didinga Mountains, which are often shrouded in clouds, in spectacularly beautiful country. It is accessible only by a rough track. In May 2009 road construction resumed after being interrupted when the local people complained that the road was too wide, taking up too much land. People The predominant tribe is the Didinga. Many people keep cattle as well as farming. The main crops are sorghum, simsim, maize, tobacco, and beans. Geneva Marathon
The Harmony Geneva Marathon for UNICEF is an annual marathon running event held in Geneva, Switzerland. It draws about 9,100 participants every May. Apart from the marathon, there is also a half marathon, a Relay Marathon, a 20 km Handbike and wheelchair race, a 10 km race held on the same day, and races exclusively for women (5 km) and children (1 to 5 km) held the day before. A time limit of six hours and a half applies to the main event. The men's 1500 metres at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics was held at the London Olympic Stadium on 10, 11, and 13 August. Summary From the gun in the final, the Kenyan team took charge as Elijah Manangoi from the inside and Timothy Cheruiyot from the outside squeezed the pack behind their wall. The third Kenyan, Asbel Kiprop went to his typical position marking the back of the pack. After a moderate lap, controlling the pace, Kiprop moved forward and the two leaders accelerated to a quick five metre breakaway. In the next half lap, that break expanded to 10 metres with only Kiprop able to bridge the gap. Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration.
