Domenico Fiasella
Domenico Fiasella (12 August 1589 – 19 October 1669) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, mainly active in Genoa. He was nicknamed Il Sarzana, after his birthplace of Sarzana nera Genoa. Biography He was the son of Giovanni Fiasella, a silversmith, who, noting his skills apprenticed him as a boy of 11 years to work with Aurelio Lomi in Genoa, and from there he moved to work with Giovanni Battista Paggi. Around 1607 he left for Rome, where he frequented the ''Accademia del Nudo''. His ability was first recognized by Guido Reni and Ciriaco Mattei, which led Domenico Passignano and Cavalier D'Arpino to employ him. The Marchese Vincenzo Giustiniani commissioned paintings from him, including ''Christ Healing the Blind'' and ''Christ Raising the Son of the Widow of Nain'' (both of which were ultimately purchased by John Ringling and bequeathed to the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art upon his death). San Lazzaro, Sarzana
San Lazzaro is a 19th-century, Roman Catholic church located on Via Aurelia number 298 in the neighborhood of ''San Lazzaro di Sarzana'', just south-east of Sarzana, region of Liguria, Italy. The parish church happens to be located, for historical reasons, within the region of Tuscany. The parish church has a Greek-cross plan and its façade has some classical features. The large wooden portal is a remarkable 19th-century manufacture. __TOC__ History The church was built between 1843 and 1880, and replaced the chapel of the ancient hospital on Via Francigena. As was typical, this type of hospital (also called leprosariums) were erected distant and outside of the walls of towns. Bob Jones University Museum & Gallery
The Museum & Gallery, Inc. is currently located on the campus of Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. It was established in 1951, and focuses on sacred art, mainly European Old Master paintings, but also includes smaller collections of sculpture, furniture, architectural elements, textiles, Greek and Russian icons, and ancient artifacts. As of 2017, the museum is closed for a planned move to downtown Greenville, SC. History Bob Jones Jr., son and successor of Bob Jones Sr. who founded the university, started collecting art in 1948. An acquisition fund was created to buy religious art from the western world to build a collection to serve both the University and South Carolina. Luca Saltarello
Luca Saltarello (c. 1610 – c. 1645) was an Italian Baroque painter known for his religious compositions. After training in Genoa he worked the rest of his short life in Rome. Life Little is known about the background of this artist who was born in Genoa around 1610. He trained with Domenico Fiasella. Francesco Gentileschi
Francesco Lomi Gentileschi (; before 11 June 1597 in Rome – after 1665 in Angers) was an Italian Baroque painter. Son of Orazio Gentileschi and brother of Artemisia Gentileschi, he was trained at the studio of Genoese painter Domenico Fiasella. Gregorio De Ferrari
Gregorio de Ferrari (c. 1647–1726) was an Italian Baroque painter of the Genoese School. Biography De Ferrari was born in Porto Maurizio. He came to Genoa to study law but instead became a painter. He apprenticed with Domenico Fiasella from 1664 to 1669, and in this period he may have painted in the style of Giovanni Andrea de Ferrari and Giovanni Battista Casone.
