Domada Chittabbayi
Domada Chitti Abbayi or Chittabbayi (Telugu: దోమాడ చిట్టబ్బాయి) (1930–2002) was a renowned nadaswaram vidwan and recipient of the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. He was born in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. He learned to play the nadaswaram from Daliparti Piccha Hari. He was associated with musicians Sangeetha Kalanidhi and Nedunuri Krishnamurthy. He was Asthana Vidwan of Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha temple, Simhachalam. Death Chittabbaiyi died in 2002 at the age of 72. Nadaswaram
The ''nadaswaram'' is a double reed wind instrument from South India. It is used as a traditional classical instrument in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala and in the northern and eastern parts of Sri Lanka. This instrument is "among the world's loudest non-brass acoustic instruments". It is a wind instrument partially similar to the North Indian '' shehnai,'' but much longer, with a hardwood body, and a large flaring bell made of wood or metal. Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (IAST: Saṅgīta Nāṭaka Akādamī Puraskāra), also known as the Akademi Puraskar, is an award given by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy of Music, Dance & Drama. It is the highest Indian recognition given to people in the field of performing arts. In 2003, the award consisted of Rs. 50,000, a citation, an '' angavastram'' (a shawl), and a ''tamrapatra'' (a brass plaque). Since 2009, the cash prize has been increased to ₹1,00,000. Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha temple, Simhachalam, is a Hindu temple situated on the Simhachalam Hill Range,which is 300 metres above the sea level in the city of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India.
