Dolly Varden (character)
''Barnaby Rudge: A Tale of the Riots of Eighty'' (commonly known as ''Barnaby Rudge'') is a Historical fiction, historical novel by English novelist Charles Dickens. ''Barnaby Rudge'' was one of two novels (the other was ''The Old Curiosity Shop'') that Dickens published in his short-lived (1840–1841) weekly serial ''Master Humphrey's Clock''. ''Barnaby Rudge'' is largely set during the Gordon Riots of 1780. ''Barnaby Rudge'' was the fifth of Dickens's novels to be published. It had initially been planned to appear as his first, but changes of publisher led to many delays, and it first appeared in serial form in the ''Clock'' from February to November 1841. It was Dickens's first historical novel. His only other is ''A Tale of Two Cities'' (1859), also set in revolutionary times. ''Barnaby Rudge'' is one of his less popular novels; British historian and Dickens biographer Peter Ackroyd has called it "one of Dickens's most neglected, but most rewarding, novels". It has rarely ...

Dolly Varden Trout
The Dolly Varden trout (''Salvelinus malma'') is a species of salmonid ray-finned fish native to cold-water tributaries of the Pacific Ocean in Asia and North America. Despite the name "trout" (which typically refers to freshwater species from the genera ''Salmo'' and ''Oncorhynchus''), it belongs to the genus ''Salvelinus'' (chars), which includes 51 recognized species, the most prominent being the brook, lake and bull trout as well as the Arctic char. Although many populations are semi-anadromous, riverine and lacustrine populations occur throughout its range. It is considered by taxonomists as part of the ''Salvelinus alpinus'' (Arctic char) complex, as many populations of bull trout, Dolly Varden trout and Arctic char overlap. Taxonomy The scientific name of the Dolly Varden is ''Salvelinus malma''. The species was originally named by German naturalist and taxonomist Johann Julius Walbaum in 1792 based on type specimens from the Kamchatka Peninsula in Siberia. The name '' ...

Dolly Varden (painting)
''Dolly Varden'' is an 1842 oil painting by the English artist William Powell Frith featuring the fictional character of Dolly Varden from the 1841 novel ''Barnaby Rudge'' by Charles Dickens. During the early Victorian era there was a fashion for paintings based on works of theatre and literature, generally featuring popular characters and scenes. ''Barnaby Rudge'' was Dickens fifth published novel. It takes place around the time of the Gordon Riots in 1780. Frith, a member of the art group known as The Clique, first met Dickens at the time of the painting. The two men established a friendship that lasted until the author's death in 1870. The work was exhibited at the Society of British Artists. Frith painted at least four versions of the painting, including one for Dickens himself. The best known of these is now in the Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington, London London is the Capital city, capital and List of urban areas in the United Kingdom, largest city o ...

Dolly Vardens (baseball Team)
Dolly Vardens was a recurring name used for a number of baseball teams throughout the United States in the early decades of baseball (1860s-1880s). Most were white, male squads, though there was an all-female, African-American team from Chester PA, assembled by barber-turned-sports entrepreneur John Lang in the 1880s. According to 19th century reports, in May 1883 in Chester's Lamokin Woods, a team of Black female players led by shortstop Ella Harris played against an unnamed team in a contest that was considered "a failure." Apparently, there were two different semi-professional Dolly Varden teams, and one of them played a third club known as "Captain Jinks" in a game declared a draw after 15 innings. A newspaper report of the game included a long description about the opening coin toss plus a "lengthy discussion about a player getting a thorn stuck in her foot after chasing a foul ball into the woods, but not a ton of attention was paid to the quality of play." Overall, these ...

This lineup recorded a 4-song cassette EP with Brad Wood at Idful Music Corporation in Chicago. After a few months, Mark Balletto was added as an additional guitarist.
