Dollar Signs (band)
Dollar Signs is a punk rock band from Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. The band has released four full-length records as well as several EPs. History Dollar Signs started as an acoustic project of Erik Button and Luke Gunn. After performing for several years in the North Carolina region, the band was joined by Dylan Wachman and Arion Chamberlain. Dylan Wachman and Erik Button would go on to create the local record label Scaredy Cat Records, which is where the band released much of their early material. In 2015, the band released their album "Yikes". After the release of "Yikes", the band changed course and started changing direction into pop punk. The release of "Life is Ruff" saw the band pressing their own vinyl via their imprint Possum Heart Records. It was also the first time the band was pressed to vinyl. Pop Punk
Pop punk (or punk pop) is a rock music genre that combines elements of punk rock with power pop or pop. It is defined for its emphasis on classic pop songcraft, as well as adolescent and anti- suburbia themes, and is distinguished from other punk-variant genres by drawing more heavily from 1960s bands such as the Beatles, the Kinks, and the Beach Boys. The genre has evolved throughout its history, absorbing elements from new wave, college rock, ska, rap, emo, and boy bands. It is sometimes considered interchangeable with power pop and skate punk. Folk Punk
Folk punk (known in its early days as rogue folk) is a fusion of folk music and punk rock. It was popularized in the early 1980s by the Pogues in England, and by Violent Femmes in the United States. Folk punk achieved some mainstream success in that decade. In more recent years, its subgenres Celtic punk and Gypsy punk have experienced some commercial success. Anti-folk (sometimes referred to as unfolk) is a music genre that emerged in the 1980s in response to the remnants of the 1960s folk music scene. Anti-folk music was made to mock the perceived seriousness of the time's mainstream music scene, and artists have the intention to protest with their mocking and clever lyrics. Pure Noise Records is an American punk rock record label based in Nashville, Tennessee. It was founded by Jake Round in 2009 while he was an editor at '' AMP''; the previous fall, friends of his in the band No Bragging Rights told him they were looking for a new label, and Round expressed interest in releasing the album himself. Prior to this Round had a short stint as an intern at Fat Wreck Chords. While the label began as a home operation, and had only put out five albums by the end of 2010, by 2014 some of the label's roster were main-stage acts at Warped Tour, and others had sold nearly 50,000 copies of their albums. A-F Records is an American independent record label founded by punk rock band Anti-Flag and based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Jeffrey Ernest Rosenstock (born September 7, 1982) is an American musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter from Long Island, New York. He is known for his former bands Bomb the Music Industry! and The Arrogant Sons of Bitches, as well as for his work as a solo artist and as a composer for ''Craig of the Creek''. He is the founder of Quote Unquote Records, the first donation-based record label. Early life Jeff Rosenstock was raised in Baldwin on New York's Long Island.
