Dolby Surround
Dolby Pro Logic is a surround sound processing technology developed by Dolby Laboratories, designed to decode soundtracks encoded with Dolby Surround. The terms Dolby Stereo and LtRt (''Left Total'', ''Right Total'') are also used to describe soundtracks that are encoded using this technique. Dolby Stereo—also known as Dolby MP (''Motion Picture'') or Dolby SVA (''stereo variable-area'')—was developed by Dolby in 1976 for analog cinema sound systems. Dolby Stereo is a sound format made by Dolby Laboratories. Jim Fosgate
James M. Fosgate (December 5, 1937 – December 7, 2022) was an American inventor, engineer and businessman. The self-taught son of a television and radio repairman, Fosgate invented the first car amplifier in 1973 and founded Fosgate Electronics, now called Rockford Fosgate. After his departure from Rockford Fosgate in 1981, Fosgate remained active in the audio world, running Fosgate Laboratories and leading the team that created Dolby Pro Logic II. Betamax (also known as Beta, and stylized as the Greek letter Beta, β in its logo) is a discontinued consumer analog Videotape, video cassette recording format developed by Sony. It was one of the main competitors in the videotape format war against its primary rival, VHS. Betamax was introduced in Japan on May 10, 1975, and launched in the United States later that year. Betamax was widely regarded, in part due to Sony's marketing, as offering superior picture quality compared to VHS.
