Dogo Beer
is a brand of beer brewed by Minakuchi-Shuzō’s microbrewery in Dōgo, Matsuyama, Ehime, Japan. One of the features of Dogo Beer is its stronger bubbles, as it is intended to be consumed after taking a meal at Dōgo Onsen. History Minakuchi Shuzo, which makes Dogo Beer, was founded during the Japanese Meiji era in 1895. Dogo beer was created in August of 1996. Dogo Beer can be purchased at Nikitasu kurabu, a retail shop, and also served at Nikitatsuan, a restaurant established in October 1996. Fresh Dogo Beer can be purchased at Dogo Biru Kan, which opened in November 1996 in front of Dogo Onsen. Dōgo Onsen
is a hot spring in the city of Matsuyama, Ehime Prefecture on the island of Shikoku, Japan. History Dōgo Onsen is one of the oldest hot springs in Japan, with a history stretching back over 1000 years. The springs are mentioned in the Man'yōshū (written c. 759) and, according to legend, Prince Shōtoku (574–622) used to partake of the waters. Dōgo Onsen was the favorite retreat of writer Natsume Sōseki (1867–1916) when he was working near Matsuyama as a teacher in what was at the time rural Shikoku.
