Dog Shy
''Dog Shy'' is a 1926 American two-reel silent comedy film starring Charley Chase. Plot Chase plays a young man with a fear of dogs. After being chased by one, he enters a phone booth and a young lady tells him her trouble: she is being pressured into marrying a wealthy duke against her wishes. He agrees to help her and meet at her home. He is, however, mistaken as a newly hired butler. After a series of hilarious misunderstandings and disasters, Chase is recognized as a hero and enjoys a happy ending. Thomas Leo McCarey (October 3, 1898 – July 5, 1969) was an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He was involved in nearly 200 films, including the critically acclaimed '' Duck Soup'', '' Make Way for Tomorrow'', '' The Awful Truth'', '' Going My Way'', '' The Bells of St. Mary's'', '' My Son John'', and '' An Affair to Remember''. While focusing mainly on screwball comedies during the 1930s, McCarey turned towards producing more socially conscious and overtly religious films during the 1940s, ultimately finding success and acclaim in both genres. Frederick Alvin Kelsey (August 20, 1884 – September 2, 1961) was an American actor, film director, and screenwriter. Kelsey directed one- and two-reel films for Universal Film Manufacturing Company. He appeared in more than 400 films between 1911 and 1958, often playing policemen or detectives. He also directed 37 films between 1914 and 1920. Kelsey was caricatured as the detective in the 1943 MGM cartoon '' Who Killed Who?'' directed by Tex Avery. William Anderson Orlamond (1 August 1867 – 23 April 1957) was a Danish-American film actor. Orlamond appeared in more than 80 films between 1912 and 1938. Orlamond delivered his finest performance in director Victor Sjöström’s masterpiece '' The Wind'' (1928) in the supporting role of “Sourdough.” Early life Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, little is known about Orlamond’s antecedents except that he was born into a family of itinerant actors. He and his brother, Fritz, were included in the traveling acts virtually from infancy.
