William Doerner
William (Bill) G. Doerner (born 1949) is a professor in the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida State University. His research has covered topics such as criminal justice, Juvenile delinquency, delinquency, law enforcement, police management and procedures, and victimology. Biography Doerner was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He graduated from Fairfield University (in Fairfield, Connecticut) with a B.A. in Sociology in 1971. Continuing directly into graduate studies, he received his M.A. from Emory University (in Atlanta, Georgia) two years later and his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Tennessee (in Knoxville, Tennessee) in 1977. Darrick Doerner
Darrick Doerner is a big wave pioneer in the sport of tow-in surfing, in which personal water craft are used to tow surfers into large surf. Also known by the nickname, Double D, Doerner is an accomplished big wave surfer himself. Doerner is an 'all around waterman' in the ocean, from surf, big wave tow-surfing, paddle, stand up paddling, windsurfing, anything with water, he's been a part of its progression at some point. In the late-1960s and 1970s he grew up in California. He then moved to the Big Island of Hawai'i for his senior year of high school. From 1975-1996 he worked with Eddie Aikau, Mark Cunningham, Terry Ahue and Brian Keaulana. Wilfred Otto "Gus" Doerner (February 27, 1922 – December 10, 2001) was an American professional basketball player for the Fort Wayne Pistons and Indianapolis Kautskys of the National Basketball League (NBL). He won two championships with the Pistons and one with the Kautskys, although he is best known for his career at Evansville College. A native of Evansville, Indiana, Doerner attended Mackey High School and was a stand-out basketball player. In three years on the team, he earned all-county and all-sectional accolades twice apiece, and in his senior year was named a team captain. When he graduated in 1938, he decided to stay close to home and attend Evansville College (now known as the University of Evansville). Max Doerner (1 April 1870 in Burghausen – 1 March 1939 in Munich) was a German artist and art theorist. Doerner's artistic education was at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich where he studied under Johann Caspar Herterich and Wilhelm von Diez. His style was impressionistic. He travelled around Europe, in particular to the Low Countries and Italy, and studied the old techniques of painting. He is most noted for his work ''The Materials of the Artist and Their Use in Painting'', first published in 1921. Doerner Institute was founded in 1937 in Munich as a ''State Testing and Research Institute for Colour Technology'' (in German ''Staatliche Prüf- und Forschungsanstalt für Farbentechnik)''. The founding of the Institute Doerner Institute is named after Max Doerner, an artist and Munich Art Academy professor.
