Christian Doerfler
Christian Doerfler (March 2, 1862 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin – June 10, 1934) was a justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1885. Doerfler was married to Julia Anderson. They had one son. Public service and career Doerfler was Commissioner of Milwaukee Public Schools before serving as Assistant District Attorney of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin from 1889 to 1891. John Francis Doerfler
John Francis Doerfler (born November 2, 1964) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who has been serving as bishop of the Diocese of Marquette in Michigan since 2014. Biography Early life and education John Doerfler was born on November 2, 1964, to Henry and Germaine Mancl Doerfler in Appleton, Wisconsin. He attended Appleton West High School and graduated in 1983. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and classics from the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1987. Doerfler entered the seminary and was sent to the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he earned a Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree in 1990. Ordination and ministry On July 13, 1991, Doerfler was ordained a priest by Bishop Robert Joseph Banks for the Diocese of Green Bay at Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. Leo Doerfler
Leo G. Doerfler (1919–2004) was the founder of the profession of audiology, the science of hearing and hearing disorders, in the early 1940s. He played a leading role in establishing professional bodies and educational standards for audiology practitioners. Early life Born June 25, 1919, in New York City to Anna (Steiner) and Gustav Doerfler, he earned degrees in English literature from New York University and Columbia, but then accepted a scholarship at the Central Institute for the Deaf (CID) and earned his master's degree in deaf education. At CID, he also met Alice Turechek, a young teacher of the deaf, who was to be his wife for nearly 57 years until her death in 2000. In 1941, Doerfler took a job at the Iowa School for the Deaf, then enlisted in the army in 1942. In 1943, the day before he was to be sent to Germany, Doerfler was assigned to be an acoustic officer at Deshon General Hospital in Butler, Pennsylvania.
