Dodge GTX (Turismo Carretera)
The Dodge GTX (also referred to as Dodge Cherokee or Dodge GTX Cherokee) is a stock car version of the Dodge GTX, designed to race in Asociación Corredores de Turismo Carretera-sanctioned series including Turismo Carretera. History Dodge's competition history in Turismo Carretera dates back to the start of the category in the 1930s, with the 6C Coupé and sister brands Plymouth and DeSoto used. A 6C Coupé in the hands of Raúl Melo Fajardo won the second-ever event of the category, the "Corrientes - Goya - Corrientes", in 1937. As the series grew into the 1950s, 60s and 70s, these models were usurped by various Valiants, Dodge 1500s and the Dodge Polara as Improved Production vehicles battled 'prototype' evolutions. The GTX ultimately replaced the Polara in the Turismo Carretera field in the 1970s, with its more streamlined coupé design and " Slant-Six" engine favoured by competitors. To be eligible to compete in the category, the Slant-Six had to be de-tuned from its fac ...

Torino Cherokee
The Torino Cherokee is a racing car manufactured and developed in Argentina for its participation in the Turismo Carretera. It is a sports development carried out under the regulations of the Asociación Corredores de Turismo Carretera, using the IKA Torino production model, manufactured in Argentina between the 1960s and 1980s, as its basis. This prototype was developed and presented in the mid-1990s, under production standards imposed by ACTC, in order to grant users of the Industrias Kaiser Argentina, IKA brand (vulgar and directly identified by the name of the Torino model), a new tool to compete under equal conditions in the category, taking into account the sporting situation they lived after, after their debut at the end of the 1960s (in which they would exercise a very notorious dominance between 1966 and 1971), various technical restrictions were imposed that would lead to a drop in performance and their almost subsequent disappearance from the considerations of the riders ...

Industrias Kaiser Argentina
Industrias Kaiser Argentina S.A. (mostly known for its acronym IKA) was an Argentine automobile manufacturer established in 1956 as a joint venture with Kaiser Motors of the United States. Headquartered in Santa Isabel, Córdoba, the automaker produced a variety of Kaiser Jeep vehicles and American Motors Corporation (AMC) models, including Argentina's most iconic car, the Torino, before partnering with France's Renault, which bought it out in 1970. Under its new name "IKA-Renault", the company continued operating until Renault took over completely becoming Renault Argentina in 1975. The French subsidiary remained in the former IKA factory at Santa Isabel. History 1950s The government of Argentina sent a delegation to the United States in 1951 to meet with auto manufacturers interested in building cars in Argentina. Unfortunately, the market was seen as too small to justify the investment, and no one but Kaiser was interested. On 19 January 1955, the government signed an a ...

Roberto José Mouras (February 16, 1948 – November 22, 1992) was an Argentine racing driver. He won the 1983, 1984 and 1985 Turismo Carretera championships. Also, he won 50 races in this series between his debut in 1970 and his fatal accident in 1992. Racing career Roberto Mouras started his racing career in the 60s. He made his debut in Turismo Carretera in 1970, driving a Torino. He switched to Chevrolet in 1975 and made his first victory in 1976, at Bahía Blanca. He won the next five races, achieving a total of six consecutive wins that remain a record to this day. But despite this, Mouras lost the championship to Héctor Gradassi. In 1980, Mouras would change his allegiance again, going from Chevrolet to Dodge. With Dodge, Mouras achieved his greatest successes, as he won all three championships in 1983, 1984 and 1985, in addition to a small tournament disputed in late 1981. Of Mouras' 50 wins, 27 were in his period with Dodge between 1981 and 1985. In 1986, Mouras ...

Chrysler Slant-6 Engine
The Slant-Six is the popular name for a Chrysler inline-6 internal combustion engine with an overhead valve reverse-flow cylinder head and cylinder bank inclined at a 30-degree angle from vertical. Introduced in 1959, it was known within Chrysler as the G-engine. It was a clean-sheet design that began production in 1959 at and ended in 2000 at . It was a direct replacement for the flathead Chrysler straight six that the company started business with in 1925 until the old design was discontinued in the 1960s. Design The Chrysler Slant Six engine was a clean-sheet design, led by Willem Weertman, later Chrysler's chief engine designer. Its characteristic 30° inclination of cylinder block gives it a lower height overall engine package. This 30° inclination had already been used by Mercedes-Benz in their 300SL sports car with the M186 engine since 1952. This enabled vehicle stylists to lower hoodlines, and also made room for the water pump to be mounted with a lateral offs ...

Dodge Polara
The Dodge Polara is an automobile introduced in the United States for the 1960 model year as Dodge's top-of-the-line full-size car. After the introduction of the Dodge Custom 880 in 1962, the Polara nameplate designated a step below the full-sized best trimmed Dodge model; the Polara that year had been downsized to what was in effect intermediate, or mid-size status. In its various forms, the Polara name was used by Dodge until 1973, when its position in Dodge's line-up was replaced by the Dodge Monaco. The name Polara is a reference to the Polaris star, in a marketing attempt to appeal to the excitement surrounding the Space Race during the early 1960s. First generation The 1960 Polara and other full-sized Dodges featured styling cues carried over from 1959 models, itself an evolution of Virgil Exner's " Forward Look" cars introduced in 1957. The 1960 model year also marked the first year that all Chrysler models, except for the Imperial, used unibody construction. The ...
