Doctor Who 2023 Specials
The 2023 specials of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'' are three special episodes that aired between 25 November and 9 December 2023, to celebrate the programme's 60th anniversary. They were written by Russell T Davies and marked the start of his second tenure as showrunner, having served in the role from the start of ''Doctor Who''s revival in 2005 until leaving in 2010. The specials were broadcast on BBC One in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and on Disney+ internationally. David Tennant and Catherine Tate returned to the series as part of the 60th anniversary. Tennant starred as the Fourteenth Doctor for the first time, having previously portrayed the Tenth Doctor, while Tate reprised her role as Donna Noble. Stephen Russell Davies ( ; born 27 April 1963), known professionally as Russell T Davies, is a Welsh screenwriter and television producer. He is best known for being the original showrunner and head writer of the revival of the BBC sci-fi series ''Doctor Who'', from 2005 to 2010 and again since 2023. The Celestial Toymaker
''The Celestial Toymaker'' is the mostly missing seventh serial of the third season in the British science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 2 to 23 April 1966. In this serial, the alien time traveller the First Doctor (William Hartnell) and his travelling companions Steven Taylor (Peter Purves) and Dodo Chaplet ( Jackie Lane) are pitted against a powerful adversary called The Toymaker ( Michael Gough). The Toymaker separates the Doctor from his companions to play the Trilogic Game, while Steven and Dodo are forced to win a series of seemingly childish but deadly games before they can be reunited with the Doctor and return to the TARDIS. Only the last episode of this story, "The Final Test", is held in the BBC archives; the other three remain missing. BBC Roath Lock Studios is a television production studio in Cardiff, Wales. The facility houses BBC drama productions that include () ''Doctor Who'', ''Casualty'', and ''Pobol y Cwm''. The centre topped out on 20 February 2011 and filming for such productions commenced in autumn of the same year. The facility is located on a development site known as Porth Teigr, which included a proposed digital media centre, and between 2012 and 2017 hosted an interactive ''Doctor Who'' exhibition titled the Doctor Who Experience. Chanya Joyce Dorothy Button (born 25 December 1986) is an English director and screenwriter. After studying at RADA and learning the ropes in the assistant directors' department on the ''Harry Potter'' franchise, she directed two feature films, ''Burn Burn Burn'' (2015) and ''Vita & Virginia'' (2018), the latter of which she also co-wrote. Tom Kingsley
Tom Kingsley is an English television and film director. He is best known for directing the three-time BAFTA-winning Channel 4 sitcom ''Stath Lets Flats'' (2018-2021), and the comedy series ''Ghosts'' (2019-2023).
